We stayed in the riverside Merchant Exchange apartment and the location was brilliant, just a few minutes walk to all the shops, restaurants & tourist attractions. The views across the city and river were lovely and the apartment was clean, comfortable and very well equipped. We appreciated that parking, Wi-Fi and Sky HD were all included in the price. A warm sincere greeting by the owners on arrival set the tone for our stay. Lovely room , well dressed and furnished.En-suite more than roomy enough and fit for purpose, which isn't always the case with guest houses we've used in the past. Location is peaceful, and in a nice area. Pleasant and friendly staff could not be more helpful, and the breakfast sets you up for the day, truly a treat!! I stayed here with my mother who is 71 for a shopping weekend. We had a family room that was lovely.
First class B&B. Lovely genuine and friendly hosts. We can honestly say the breakfast was the best we have ever had in any B&B or hotel.Very very clean and comfortable rooms, hosts were very accommodating and nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended !!!!! Easy 5 stars *****

I loved everything about the hotel. Every member of staff was reallyhelpful and quite lovely. Nothing was too much trouble. The bookingout time of 12 noon was realistic and breakfast between 7 and 11 wascertainly more civilised than some hotels. Although we booked a studio apartment we were surprised that there was a fair amount of space in the apartment itself. Plenty of crockery etc., and some tea bags, water and soft drinks which were a bonus. Ideal if you don't like the idea of having huge breakfasts at a B & B or hotel. We would definitely book these apartments again. Very central to the Town.

Loved the fact that we were a two minute walk from the shops and near restaurants for the evening. Excellent value for money and a very comfortable and enjoyable stay. Much nicer than your run of the mill holiday inn or travel lodge where they are all the same! Also liked that you had a bar connected so we could have a drink late evening.

Room was slightly on the small side but was bright, nicely decorated & nipping clean, the bed was very comfy, shower was great & my wife loved the complimentary biscuits. Girl on reception was really friendly & efficient. Did not dine there but has a few drinks in the fat badger bar which we enjoyed. The price of the room was excellent @ £59 for a double. Would deffo stay again

Although I have ticked city trip, because that is what we did in York, The Lamb & Lion comes under a different description. It has lots of character. We stayed in the Attic, it was beautiful. Really comfortable. Brilliant being in the middle of York, parked in Marygate carpark and didn't go back until we left. Staff lovely, left the phone charger in the room when we left, Manager posted it back to me next day, no problem. Breakfast delightful. Would definitely go back.
