Edinburgh Hotels

I found the London Heathrow Thistle to be a fine hotel for the budget traveler. The staff were very helpful and at checkout we didn't have enough British money left to pay for the carpark so they let us pay a reduced rate. Our room was clean and comfortable and was better than I expected. Even though it was very busy the night we stayed we had no problem getting a non-smoking room even though we had booked through Priceline. All in all I would stay here again if I had an early flight out of Heat - Paul

We stayed at this hotel for one night during the Edinburgh Tattoo, it was a more that we wanted to pay for one night but this was the cheapest accomodation available. We were in a double room and it was beautiful. There was a huge bathroom containing a bath, shower, toilet, two sinks and more than enough room to fit a double bed in - just to give you an idea of the space. The The staff were amazing, very friendly receptionist plus the porter and bar staff couldn't do enough for you. We checked - Carol

my friends and I went up to edinburgh for the festival last month. there was 6 of us and we stayed in a 3 bedroom apartment. the apartment was clean and equipped. we had all we needed. i have to say it not your 5 star experience, so you can see the furnishings are not high market but it was an incredible value for money. few things they could improve on interior design. it just seems very plain, but again its comfortable, clean and handy. - Keith

Very friendly staff. Breakfast was good. Great location - walking distance from Waverly Station so you can take the bus from the airport and walk to the hotel no problem. The rooms were very clean and well appointed - much better than I expected given the reasonable prices. If you are in one of the back rooms, the St James parking garage may be a little loud. - Clive

Stayed at Fraser Suites this October. Very central location, beautifully put together room and the sole member of staff I dealt with was delightful and very helpful. My room was huge, with great views. It also had a small kitchenette with microwave oven, mugs, kettle, cutlery, tea and coffee stuff, as well as biscuits. My bed was very comfy so slept like a log. Really great. I was only there for one night so didn't have a chance to explore the general area but I did spot a number of restuarants - Robert

loved the size of the 2 bedroom apartments had everything you needed, ie lounge, kitchen with all utensils ie fridge, micro wave,cooker etc, excellent you could cook when you wanted and not miss breakfast as i do when im staying in a hotel. there was groceries such as milk,butter,bread , orange juice, cereal, marmalde in the apartment, we didnt expect this but was told every apartment receives this and is included in the price we paid, was told booking with lochend apartments you get better deal - Lucy

We stayed in Room #1 (the family suite) at the Lairg for 3 nights. We have never encountered a more amiable or helpful host than Christina. She continually went out of her way to be helpful, and was very knowledgeable about the Edinburgh area. Her cooked breakfasts were of the highest quality; or if you prefer continental breakfasts, there were many fresh and tasty choices. The location was excellent; near bus stops into the city and to the airport, and walking distance to the Haymarket train - David

We stayed at Jurys Hotel on the weekend of 2/3 October 2009. Location is great, rooms fine and the staff are so friendly and helpful, most especially the Reception Staff who deserve a pat on the back. The only problem we had was at breakfast on Sunday morning - we waited in a queue which snaked all the way around the restaurant and into the bar area for 40 mins for hot food. The problem appeared to be that they kept running out of food? When we eventually got to the counter there was no ba - Michael

If your'e staying here, upgrade to the Castle view. You will have an unimpeded, gorgeous view and a balcony with which you can sit on it and sip your whiskey. Perfect location to all attractions. But--if travelling with heavy baggage, the 10 pound taxi ride from Waverly will be worth every cent. - Daniel

After being quoted crazy prices for hotels in central Edinburgh for our Saturday night stay, we opted for the Novotel Edinburgh Park. What a brilliant choice it turned out to be! Check-in was efficient, our room was comfortable and spotlessly clean and without exception all the staff we encountered were professional, cheerful and helpful. There is plenty of free parking at the hotel (with CCTV coverage) and direct train access to central Edinburgh (10 minutes to Waverley Station) is only a coupl - Brian
