    The owners had arranged a lovely basket of flowers for my wife as it was our anniversary but also upgraded our room what a lovely touch, a very clen and bright hotel lovely freindly staff in a great position. Very confortable rooms and great to have a bar and social area so that you can unwind after a busy day. Breakfasts were excellent and offers ... what people say » a good evening menu if you don't want to go out. - This is an excellent hotel, i cannot beleive that is only rated as a 2 Star. The staff made us feel very welcome and worked very hard. Nothing was too much trouble.The food was very good and our compliment to the Chef in this regard bearing in mind the small kitchen he has to work in.Overall a very good experience and it wont be long before we return

    The staff were first rate, rooms and facilities excellent. Everyone very friendly and attentive. - I like the history of the house, friendly and helpful staffs. Fantastic view!! Good breakfast.

    Amazing! I didn't know what to expect from the hotel or the location. What a great surprise. The Lake District, the Village of Grasmere and the Waterside hotel were great!. The hotel was spotless, great staff, room was fantastic. Amenities were great in the room and in the hotel. The big suprise was the food at the hotel. Breakfast was good,... what people say » but dinner was absolutely fantastic!! - The peace and quiet in the gardens and the excellent breakfasts.thestaff were very friendly and helpful.this is the second time we havestayed here and we have enjoyed both stays.we would'nt hesitate to stayagain if we could get a good deal like the one we have just had.

    My husband and I booked the Virginia Cottage for our 2nd Wedding anniversary. On arrival we were greeted bu the owner who was very friendly and welcoming, he took his time to explain where everything was and took us up to our room to show us around and also told us where to go for something to eat etc. I don't particularly like staying in guest ho... what people say » uses/B&B's as I feel sometimes it can be a bit old fashioned and flowery (I have had bad experiences) but no way did this place make me feel that - The location is brilliant, the cottage is quaint and beautifully Cared for,the hosts and welcome Very good.The facility of having Car parking good,help from host with luggage appreciated.Big snag was not having been told that our room would be at the top of the house even though I had emailed to the effect that my partner had a disabled badge for Breathing problems,however he did manage but with difficulty,if we had known about this hazard we would have had second thoughts,even so we were

    Everything was exceptional. The place is a typical country house with very clean rooms with white crisp towels and bed linen. Breakfast was something I used to look forward to every morning which was really good. Location was just right as we were travelling by car and few mins from windermere centre. Would definitely go back there if we travel to Windermere - I am a wheelchair user (complete paraplegic) and found the access to be excellent. I would go as far to say that Meadowcroft is probably one of the best places I've stayed for disabled room facilities. The option to book a disabled room from the website is a very good touch, I usually have to phone ahead to confirm that the room is appropriate for my needs and available, which this function eleviated, if only other sites/hotels did this. The room was spacious, comfortable and extremely clean. T

    The service was second to none. The staff were very cheerful and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere was relaxed and very restful. - very friendly and cosy. great food. perfect place for a romantic weekend.we have been in the hotel twice and we cant wait to go back.

    When we got to Lakeside House we were personally shown to our room - No 1. The room was very roomy, comfortable and nicely decorated. The bed was huge! The location was brilliant - just a short walk to the centre of Keswick. Breakfast was excellent - particularly the Eggs Benedict. All the staff were friendly and gave us good advice on places... what people say » to visit and names of good restaurants. We really enjoyed our first visit to the Lake District. - Everything! Warm and friendly, welcoming, respectful, happy and competent staff, wonderful breakfasts beautifully prepared/cooked, decor restful with warm tones modern but not clinical.     this was our first visit to the lamplighter we were very impressed with the friendliness of all the staff we arrived with our 2 cavalier dogs who were made a big fuss of we also were asked if we wanted to eat in a separate room so the dogs could be with us which we declined as they are more than happy to stay in their sleeping crate .the breakfas... what people say » t was superb as were the meals in the restaurant at night initially we were only going to eat in there one night but it was so good we ate every nig - The innkeepers were charming! The hotels rooms newly decorated and the kingsize beds very comfortable with lovely pillows. The breakfast was also particularly delicious, with fresh juices, Greek yogurt with berry compote for example. They accommodated well for special vegetarian requests, even going out for veggie sausage for us for our second day's breakfast. Well done and thank you for a fantastic stay! Mr and Mrs Ryan

    This little guest house, has been the best to date, on regular stays in the Ambleside area, what impressed us most was the cleanliness of the room we where in, and the en-suit was immaculate, the room was classed as a superior room, and was amply sized, with a king sized bed with a hugh flat screen Sony TV, loved the working sash windows, facing... what people say » the old Police Station. We stayed 2 nights celebrating my partners 40th, no faults at all, and a warm welcome from Lynne and Alan, the proprietors. - Very good guesthouse with very friendly and efficient staff. The double room with en-suite (£70 per night B&B) was very good value, well appointed and was very clean with high levels of local information. The breakfast was extensive with cereal, fruit juice, fresh fruit, yoghurt, full English breakfast with tea/coffee and toast. Alan who co owns Melrose house with his wife Lynn could not have been more helpful. A definite recommendation for Melrose House and will tell family and friends.
