I flew in Ryanair to Liverpool from Norway (10p.each way),took an excellent train to Cardiff (£10 each way) and enjoyed staying at this very acceptable hotel. I'm a cost effective traveller by choice. hmmm, I read some of the reviews here and wonder if they are the same hotel. For the PRICE I was amazed!! Clean, good room (duplex block) and fresh bedlinen - crisp white - daily, good full english breakfast included in the amazingly low price. Helpful and cheerful staff. This is a very good quality hotel, the scenery from the top is fabulous. The room was very spacious. The staff are very helpful. The buffet breakfast was fantastic with a wide varierty of food on choice. I would definitely stay here again. the hotel is prefectly located if you want to be near the train station, but is not close to the main city (20 mins walk) - Cindy

We went to Cardiff for just one night & booked The Sandringham online which was VERY easy to do and a FANTASTIC price. Right in the centre of Cardiff its great to just step out onto the street and go hereever you want! Staff were very friendly on reception, and directed us to our room, all carpets needed renewing on the stairs but were clean. Our room was up a further 2 steep set of stairs (but ehy it as built like it so can not complain bout that) they had decent handrails cos the stairs ar - Steve

Would highly recommend this hotel which was excellent value for money in comparison to other hotel chains. Parking on site (free) was an added bonus. On check-in, reception staff were very friendly and keen to help which is often rare these days. They were definitely aware of what excellent customer service means. The room was clean and spacious, the bed was comfortable and we were lucky not be situated near a lift to be kept awake by noise all night. - Peter

I stayed at the Royal Hotel in October of 2008 for 8 nights, and loved every minute of it. The room was clean and very large, the bathroom was spotless with an oversized bathtub and quailty soaps, shampoos and bath salts were provided. The sheets and duvet were sumptuous and very clean (you know a hotel's beds are clean when they have white sheets and blankets - every tiny stain would be notable!) and as I was on the top floor of the hotel, I had no problem with overnight noise, even though we s - Sam

Recently stayed at Meridian for a business trip. The apartments are excellently located in the heart of the City. Very handy for Central Station which is great for those travelling on business. Apartments are all well equipped and really are a home from home. Staff on site were very welcoming and always willing to help. As I arrived late at night and left my booking confirmation at home it was nice to know they had a member of staff onsite 24 hours a day to help me. I will definitely be staying - Nikitas

The Cardiff Park Plaza is rated a four star hotel but it must be pretty close to nudging five stars. The hotel has a luxury feel with tasteful decor and quality service. The hotel is located a short walk from the main shopping centre as well as Cardiff Castle. It’s actually opposite a number of well frequented night clubs but very little outside noise could be heard from the room. We stayed for one night on 17th October as we were runners in the Cardiff Half Marathon. The room was on the 14th floor with fabulous views over Cardiff. It was extremely spacious with seating area of settee and 2 easy chairs. The bathroom was also very nice with a seperate shower cubicle to the large bath. Breakfast was served early due to the Half Marathon and very hot and an excellent variation. Parking was £12 per day underneath the hotel and accessed via a side road at the rear - Martin

A very good two night package - excellent food both at breakfast & show dinner. Many thanks to Stewart who looked after us during the show. He is most enthusiastic & obviously enjoys his job. Unfortunately the weather changed on the second day & the room was absolutely freezing. The radiator was almost stone cold even after adjustment. Good job we had the complimentary dressing gowns to wear over our normal clothes whilst watching TV!! Spoke to another couple who had the same proble - Marlene
