  I like the artsy, contemporary feel of the whole hotel - it feels like an understated and less visually disoriented W Hotel full of wonder, fun and craftiness. The bathroom was clean - typical Victorian style but with a modern touch. Staff, warm and cheerful. I like the idea that there was - The extremely courteous, knowledgeable, friendly and enthusiatic staff, made me feel happy and totally welcome from the moment that I arrived at the Ampersand, until the minute that I climbed into my taxi for the airport. Such an experience was like the first meeting and leaving of distant relatives. My husband and I have traveled extensively and we visit London every 2 years.   We were very happy with our three night stay at Lancaster Gate Hotel and highly recommend it. The location is superb on a quiet street only a block from Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. We had learned that there is variation in room sizes, but we were very happy with our spacious room and bath. People have commented on the expensive breakfast,... what people say » but we were pleased to learn that the hotel offers three choices in the morning: a continental, a "light", and the full English breakfast. We enjoye - Hotel under renovations and road closed but it was never less good. An explanation of air conditioning would have been helpful. We saw 28 heat and thought it was ON so we were cold for a day. First time in 40 years of ANY hotel we we charged to store our luggage for a few hours--and also charged £10 an hours overstay when we requested late stay provided hotel not full. Our plane took off 6pm. Not a way to keep customers. On principle I would prefer to pay £25 more at the Radisson 4 stars nearby

  Close to Paddingtion station, the room is clean, excellent service - it has the most courteous staff. Well-trained and really good-mannered. I arrived really early (due to my early flight), and they let me check-in anyway because there was a room available. This is what I call considerate and flexible service. It was nice to have a separate shower and bath and also a separate toilet. The room was very well sound proofed given its proximity between Paddington station and the dual carriageway.   We loved the size of the rooms and the fact that it was a suite set up, as this made it easy for our young son to go to bed before us.
