    This YHA is in the most amazing location next to the incredible Whitby Abbey. The property itself is very old and still maintains the charm and many features of its glory days. The property has immense character and I wish we could have stayed longer. The breakfast was fine for 4.99 and they also offered dinner options. The location here is one o... what people say » f the best for a YHA and the staff are also wonderful. We were also given a family pass to the abbey! Highly recommend Whitby YHA. - All staff were really helpful and friendly. Restaurant staff great fun.Only had breakfast but a brilliant choice. Reception staff through out the stay very professional , welcoming . The Hostel is in an outstanding location, good for parking,the building itself is full of history without being stuffy or pretentious. Also you get free entry to the Abby how brilliant is that! Hope to visit again soon. All the best to everyone there.

    Everything: the staff were very welcoming and so helpful: nothing was too much bother. The look of the hostel was more like that of a hotel than the stigma usually attached to hostels. The cooked breakfast was lovely, especially for the low price we paid for it. Also, the rooms were very well set out and in a very clean and tidy condition. Could n... what people say » ot recommend this hostel any more highly: me and my group had a brilliant weekend with you and would definitely stay with you again if we visit York : - Our first experience of a hostel ever & we have nothing but positive comments to give!! This is a hotel without the extras (I.e doesnt have a hairdryer/towels & a tv on the wall), other than that it does exactly what it says on the tin!! Excellent staff, excellent food, excellent value for money all round!!) Would definitely stay here again!

    The Hostel was located near Nunnery Lane Car Park which was great because I could leave my car overnight between 6pm to 8am the next morning for just £2.This was important because I was leaving early next am to drive to Castle Howard to work. Located within the City Walls and near to the railway station and within walking distance of sites, pubs a... what people say » nd restaurants. Excellent value at £16 per night which included breakfast although I left before 7am so could not partake. I would definitely stay h - everything,from the warm welcome,taking care of our bags,being close to town,lovely room,nice and clean, comfy beds,brilliant breakfast,and secure place to keep our luggage so we could squeeze every last minute out of our holiday,and only five minute walk from railway station, and only a few feet away from the entrance to the medieval walls....altogether a brilliant place, a added bonus we loved was all the fun plaques outside each bedroom,it brought history alive.

    Lovely big rooms, well decorated to fit the building and the countryside feel of the town. Lots of storage, drawers and wardrobe. Big clean bathroom. Full tea service in room. Dvd player in room and a selection of DVDs in hall. About 10 minute walk from the high street. The owners knew a lot about the area and the sights. The - Relaxed atmosphere, great breakfast, room was clean with very good facilities, huge shower lots of tea and coffee etc, bed was comfy. Furniture was old fashioned but good quality and that was totally in keeping with the building, however the decor was modern, great mix and it worked! Owner was very helpful giving loads of info about the surrounding area and things to do, great stay thanks.

    Loved the location!!! Couldnt be nearer to the beach if we'd tried :) Also loved how friendly everyone was - staff and other families. Lots of other kids around and safe enough to let them all run free like Swallows and Amazons. Also loved the fossil hunting! And piratey decor in the hostel, and the kids loved the quizzes and treasure hunts. Basic... what people say » ally it was awesome and we had amazing beach weather :D - This youth hostel is a fabulous converted old mill that is situated about two minutes from the beach. It is warm,cosy with lots of comfortable settees, amazing decor throughout and a wonderful bar,coffee area. The food is excellent and the staff are so friendly and helpful that nothing is too much trouble for them. We had a brilliant weekend.Thankyou.
