  We stayed at 2 bedroomed apartment at 7 Johnson terrace! Location, location, location - castle, royal mile & grassmarket on you door step! In easy reach of local bars & restaurants plus sightseeing bus stop 2 minute walk away! The apartment itself was lovely! Relaxing living room & comfy beds! Would definitely recommend for - We stayed in apartment 11 on the third floor. The view was incredible of St. Giles Cathedral. The location superb two blocks from the castle. Many restaurants and shops on the royal mile. Many tourists but inside the apartment calm and relaxing. A bit of noise at night as shops and restaurants were cleaning up and ghost tours ending but by 11pm all went quiet until about 7am. We enjoyed our stay as it was close to everything including Waverly train station.

  The Merchiston Residence is fantastic and I just can't fault it. The building is beautiful inside and out. Furnishings and fittings all very high quality and every detail has been thought through, making for a relaxing, convenient and luxurious stay.   Our accommodation was actually a townhouse over 3 storeys just yards offthe royal mile. It was fantastic-clean and well equipped and would nothesitate to recommend it. In fact we plan to use it again very soon. Avery big plus point for us was the ability to park the car beside thehouse which is a big plus especially in edinburgh where parking is on... what people say » the whole horrendous. - An extremely clean, modern and well maintaned flat. Very good self catering facilities. The flat was provided with clean towels and hair dryers for each room. It even had sky tv. Walking distance to royal mile and the castle. The staff was very attentive and courteous. Enjoyed the stay, I would highly recommend.

Breakfast was lovely, more than I could eat, and when we needed to be up and out early on Sunday, he was happy to bring breakfast forward for us.   The place was beautiful and I felt very welcoming and I was helped and given information about where to eat out, for transport etc - It was clean and the landlady was very nice and helpfull.

There were many many more choices if you did not want the cook - We chose this because we don't like to be in the center of the big towns we visit. The Portobello beach is also close, a stunning place, really worth a visit. Loved the host, very nice lady and very pleasant. Loved the stories she told me about the house.
