    We booked a 4-poster with Jacuzzi for a last-minute weekend break. We were not disappointed. Trevor, the owner made us feel really welcome, showed us around the property and took us up to our top floor spacious en-suite room. This room had beautiful views over the church grounds, park and the hills beyond. On-site parking was available for all gue... what people say » sts. The buffet style breakfast was extremely varied and plentiful and the breakfast room was a good size and very comfortable. Overall an excellent e - Midweek rates in November were very good. Conveniently located hotel near the centre with plenty of off-street parking, which a lot of places in Ambleside do not have. The bedroom was not large but adequate, the kingsize bed being comfortable. Large bathroom with spa bath. Cold buffet breakfast was extensive and very good. Pleasant helpful efficient staff.

    We stayed in the new Silver Suite - it was extremely comfortable with a most beautiful view across the water. Needless to say, but the food was magnificently presented and absolutely delicious. The staff were exceptionally courteous and delightfully friendly. You felt you were staying with friends.     We choose this hotel because of the reviews and it did not disapoint, it was immaculate, really nice building and superb rooms. We received a warm welcome and the hotel was in a great location.     From the welcoming tea and cake to a heartfelt goodbye from Tim, one of the two owners - more like hosts than proprietors - everything was first rate. The superior room we booked overlooked gardens and a park which we could view from the large windows or from the deck attached to the room.     this was our first visit to the lamplighter we were very impressed with the friendliness of all the staff we arrived with our 2 cavalier dogs who were made a big fuss of we also were asked if we wanted to eat in a separate room so the dogs could be with us which we declined as they are more than happy to stay in their sleeping crate .the breakfas... what people say » t was superb as were the meals in the restaurant at night initially we were only going to eat in there one night but it was so good we ate every nig - The innkeepers were charming! The hotels rooms newly decorated and the kingsize beds very comfortable with lovely pillows. The breakfast was also particularly delicious, with fresh juices, Greek yogurt with berry compote for example. They accommodated well for special vegetarian requests, even going out for veggie sausage for us for our second day's breakfast. Well done and thank you for a fantastic stay! Mr and Mrs Ryan

Breakfast also excellent (you could order classic English, continental breakfast and even salmon), wi-fi, TV provided but not so interesting because nature outside is very beautiful.

    The location was ideal for us , we like to shop and enjoy the restaurants and bars in the town centre. The owners George and Lindsey were very friendly and made our stay all the more enjoyable, George was very clued up on the local area and was a very chatty host at breakfast. The bed was very comfortable and the ensuite was of a good standard. Overall it was a very nice place to stay particulary as 16 appears to be the maximum number of guests.     Very helpful owner who was friendly and welcoming. The inn has a lovely ambiance and situated in a fairly quiet part of the Lake District, but yet everything was is so amenable. Also, not forgetting some beautiful and challenging walks. Good menu with good food, (recommend the seafood platter). Used the spa which is situated, 10 minutes walk away,... what people say » which is in a fairly large hotel which can get busy at weekends. The only negative is that due to the good atmosphere in the restraint the noise did - Excellent location in peaceful spot but close to Elterwater. Beautiful view with plenty of great walks on the doorstep. we had the luxury room which had great views. Very friendly and helpful bar and hotel staff. Nice bar with good menu. Two real ales on from local breweries. Relaxing hotel for get away weekend.

    Great location within walking distance of both Windemere and Bowness. Helen, Phillippa and Trevor all pleasant and helpful. They even took us through the kitchen at breakfast time to see the Deer in the woods at the rear of the property. Able to use spa/gym facilities at nearby hotel. All in all excellent place to stay. - the hostress, Phillipa (hope I didn't wrongly spell her name) was very kind. She welcomed us with delicious tea and cookies, and provided us some milk and cereal when she heard we had to catch up an early train and would miss the breakfast - hmm, the breakfast was quite good here. The room was clean and cozy, enough space and we even saw a deer outside the window. Overall it was really nice stay, I could understand why this guesthouse could get such a high rating.

    The Swinside Inn is set among the magnificent Cumbrian mountians. The views from our 'Catbells' room were stunning. The room was well presetned with modern decor throught, a modern en suite shower/bathroom, comfortable bed, ample wardrobe/drawer space and ample tea/coffee facilities. The evening meal was fairly basic and fitting for a countryside ... what people say » Inn it was tasty with good size portions, as was the full English breakfast. From the moment we arrived to the time we left we were impressed with the - Location excellent..in a quiet valley about 5 km from Keswick, a tourist center. No other buildings around except for the Inn. I could hike into spectacularly rough mountains in 5 minutes by foot from the inn. Nice log fire, lovely and warm in the rooms. Each room is slightly different. The one known as Causey Pike has massive windows towards the mountains. Food was fine, and breakfasts were hearty with everything one could think of.
