  The gables is a sweet place, more like a mini hotel than a guest house with about 15 rooms. The owners have put care and attention into the place with clean, bright rooms and a nice atmosphere. It's in a great location in Ambleside, close to everything. The weather was very warm and the owners provided a fan to our room prior to our arrival, which was really helpful.

  All staff were very friendly, yet efficient and professional. The room was better than I expected for the price. We were given a free room upgrade on arrival.   The hotel is fantastic. The room was fab and the service by the staff was outstanding. As soon as you arrive you get a friendly face welcoming you and they are so helpful. The pool was brilliant and clean.   The room was quirky inasmuch that it was on two levels with a beautiful refurbished bathroom, a dressing table area and wardrobe, then up four stairs to the bedroom and sitting area. Nothing was lacking in facilities. THe restaurant and bar areas were always busy and popular with walkers and visitors to the area. I shall definitely stay at Wateredg - The Wateredge Inn is in a wonderful location right on the lake. The views out to the boats bobbing on the lake were lovely. The room was nicely decorated and comfortable as was the bathroom. The inns lounge and dining areas were very nice, with again a beautiful outlook. The two Scottish sisters who waited on us for breakfast were lovely and friendly as was Ryan the bar man. The countryside around Ambleside was really beautiful and well worth a longer visit.

  This was our second visit to the Waterhead. An excellent hotel. Luxurious but comfortable. Super food and friendly staff. Fantastic views! - we enjoyed evreything about our stay, location was beautiful, hotel was lovely, and restaurant was excellent
