Children are especially well catered for, as they have every imaginable farm animal in the fields near the house, plus dogs, rabbits, a ferret and certainly one or two I've missed. Comfy room and I also liked the staff very much, from the friendly and very helpful ladies at the front desk who checked me in and when I realised I did not have a room with seaside view, they made sure I did by changing my room. And then there was also the extra s - Though some of the corridors had that slightly battered look of many older seaside hotels, the bedroom was very comfortable and the public rooms most attractive. The bathroom was a decent size and well equipped. Breakfast was excellent: buffet breakfasts certainly have their advantages, but it was a pleasant change to be served by attentive staff from a generous menu with a great view of the South Bay.

  Hotel was value for money, its exactly what you pay for. It does need a little up-dating but it is an old victorian building.Our superior villa had a modern kitchen, massive bed and was spotlessly clean. The man on reception was lovely and friendly and helped us out with parking. The hotel is in a great position near to beach and town. Funicular near to apartment made it easy access if preferred to walking down the cliff. 10 mins walk to town centre and harbour or 2 mins local shops in nearby street. John was friendly and helpful when we wanted to swap rooms. Room 33 was lovely with its shower. Room 30 has lovely sea views but no shower.

  Upon arrival the staff were friendly and throughout my stay. My room was enormous, well decorated and came supplied with a more than an ample supply of tea and coffee. I had a sea view and I couldn't of been happier. The food and service was fabulous, the location couldn't of been more perfect and the areas within the hotel for drinking/eating or... what people say » just relaxing we're fantastic. I would definitely stay again, the added bonus as a surfer was that the heated bath rail in the bathroom was very war - I got an excellent room only rate from letsbookhotel.com- £29 per night for a double room. I asked for a quiet room on an upper floor and got just that. The room was very clean and was much better than I had expected for the price. I have stayed in a number of the old victorian hotels in Scarborough and this certainly matches them- however as a result of the price it offers the best value for money I have seen. Another major positive is the ample on road parking available nearby- this is much e
