  The hotel is in a gorgeous old building in a quiet neighberhood a bit away from the city. It has the hallmarks of past elegance but is showing its age. However, for cyclist weary from a long day on the road, we loved its lack of pretension. We had a huge room with a gorgeous view over the river. Staff was friendly and helpful and meals were ex... what people say » cellent. Depending on weather, seating was either outside on a patio or inside full glass, but both were overlooking the garden and the river. It was - The location within yards of the South West Coastal Path. Main bus route at the end of the road. Just a short 1/2 mile walk along the path opposite the hotel to the centre of Bideford. Breakfast was very good, the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Cycle hire on the Tarka Trail in approx 1 mile away. The view from the bedroom and dining room over the fiver was superb.

  Personable and friendly service. Excellent breakfast choice and incredibly tasty, compliments to the Chef.!   loved the frendlyness of the staff and fantastic food, - Delightful setting, staying at the village pub enhanced the experience of rural England. Food in the restaurant was excellent, and there was a selection of good real ale. Staff were fantastic, and the rooms clean and cosy. Our bathroom was across the hall, but didn't detract from the stay.

  Only stayed the one night but found the rooms comfortable with everything you could wish for, down the complimentry sewing kit, shower cap, make up pads and toileteries. The owners were really welcoming and helpful, even insisting on carrying are luggage to and from the car.
