    Very clean and recently refurbished. Staff veryt friendly and helpful. We stayed for 2 days and had our Dinner in the hotel on both days. (there is no where else to eat in the immdiate vicinity. So you need to book!) the meals were good quality and value for money around £10 for a main course and £5 for a starter. Breakfast was lovely and lots of ... what people say » coffee ect. We are often reluctant to try new places but this one was lovely very homely. Will recommend this one to anyone wanting a break without th - Lovely country inn with a very pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. The public areas have a local, historic feel e.g. the downstairs bar still has the old stalls from horse drawn days; charming. The staff are friendly and efficient, the bar has a great selection of local beers and ales and the food is superb.     We loved our stay at The Sun Inn! Alex and his staff made us feel like part of the crowd with their easy-going professionalism and friendly approach. Climbing the stairway to our room above the common rooms gave us a good feel for how life was in the early 19th century when The Sun Inn was constructed. My mate was really taken with the room, calling it his Hobbi - Lovely well thought out room decor wise with lots of character and everything you'd expect - twinnings tea & tea making facilities, extra comfortable bed, a decent hairdryer and good hot & roomy power shower. Staff were really friendly and went out of their way to make the stay enjoyable (cheesecake at 10:30pm and putting any sports onto the tv) and created a great laid back atmosphere.     We were greeted by a very friendly man who couldn't do enough for us. He allowed us into our room much earlier than usual as we wanted to get ready for a wedding nearby. The room was lovely, clean and had all the necessary bits and bobs we needed (including a hand-held magnifying mirror!). Would recommend this hotel to others. - A lovely inn with good, clean rooms and a good sized ensuite bathroom ..and, at times, a working TV... sinceours didn't work!. However, everybody pulled out all the stops to get the TV in working order; alas, it was not to be. We were offered free drinks as compensation in the pub, which we appreciated very much. Other than this amusing story, we had a great time in this lovely place and would definitely go back!

We love Country Villages we would definitely stay again. - We wanted a real good value pub as a walking base for the weekend, we found one right in the middle of the lakes. From the moment we arrived the staff couldn't do enough for us - big thanks. The food was straightforward, good quality and great value. The beer was exceptional and again great value. We loved all the fires and so did our dogs. The rooms we ok, nothing special, but clean and comfortable. We will be returning again.

    Staff very friendly, location was excellent. Found the room very comfortable and clean. I wish I could have stayed longer. Best breakfast I have ever had - Lovely setting,staff helpful and friendly,food excellent and dog friendly. Lovely relaxing place to stay and only a 10 minute walk from Grasmere.

    We got upgraded which was very nice. The hotel had a good atmosphere and the staff were very friendly. Restaurant attatched did good food and service was with a smile. - Very reasonable price and good service!!! Very confortable!!!

    The Swinside Inn is set among the magnificent Cumbrian mountians. The views from our 'Catbells' room were stunning. The room was well presetned with modern decor throught, a modern en suite shower/bathroom, comfortable bed, ample wardrobe/drawer space and ample tea/coffee facilities. The evening meal was fairly basic and fitting for a countryside ... what people say » Inn it was tasty with good size portions, as was the full English breakfast. From the moment we arrived to the time we left we were impressed with the - Location excellent..in a quiet valley about 5 km from Keswick, a tourist center. No other buildings around except for the Inn. I could hike into spectacularly rough mountains in 5 minutes by foot from the inn. Nice log fire, lovely and warm in the rooms. Each room is slightly different. The one known as Causey Pike has massive windows towards the mountains. Food was fine, and breakfasts were hearty with everything one could think of.

He made us feel very welcome and was freindly.Natalier was also freindly and welcoming.The food that the head chief Sally prepared was excellent it was cooked fresh and served piping hot. Everyone made us feel so welcome as though we had been go - As a cycling group, several of us arrived late but they kept the kitchen open late to feed us which really was appreciated.     We stayed in a family room and it was very clean and comfortable. Steve cooked us a fabulous English breakfast the following morning. He even carried our bags and gave the kids lollies when we left. He went the extra mile which makes a big difference when you are travelling with kids.
