    It was very convenient in terms of its proximity to the airport. Despite being close to a main road, the rooms have double glazing and we didn't hear any noise whatsoever.     The location - just 10 min walk into the heart of the city (and the new Cabot Circus shopping center which my wife and daughter both loved)! The hotel staff were all very friendly and very efficient and gave excellent and professional customer service at all times. The design/decor is tasteful and compliments the age and style of the building. The restaurant food is complex, tasty and although portions sizes are small, because of the richness in the food it is sure to fill you up! The wine list is very reasonable and there is a good selection of wines to choose from. We would defiantly stay here again and recommend it to our friends.

    The staff were very attentive and courteous, The Tavern not only afforded fine ales and wine but served an excellent meal. Breakfast was served to order, they even brought my daughter a pastry with a candle for her birthday. Rooms while located in the original buildings but had been renovated with modern ammenities king size beds and modern toilet... what people say » facilities. While our stay only lasted one night if our plans had allowed we would have stayed longer. - The staff treated you like royalty, bringing your meals to your suite and even pouring out your wine for you! The room was magnificent, a nice big comfy bed, and little treats in the draws. Our stay in the kings arms unforgettable!

    The Crown is in an excellent position in this lovely little city: right on the market square (some noise in the early mornings twice a week but the hotel provides ear plugs and the farmers' market is excellent) opposite the cathedral and bishop's palace. You can walk straight out onto the cobbled streets of the high street or walk around the peace... what people say » ful gardens of the bishop's palace. The Crown is very old, so floors are a bit uneven but this just adds to the character. The bedroom decor is lookin - I've stayed in a couple of chain hotels recently for business which were as expensive, or much more expensive than the Crown, and though the rooms were high end, everything else was pretty awful. The Crown is a complete ray of sunshine by comparison - really delicious food (and phenomenally good value if you eat an evening meal between 6 - 7pm - only 13 quid for three courses of fabulous home cooked restaurant grade food).
