  We received a lovely warm welcome at a beautiful country house set in stunning gardens. The property was beautifully clean, comfortable, elegant and restful, and a wonderful place to stay. Our host was charming and kind, very attentive and helpful. The breakfasts were sumptuous and the afternoon tea absolutely delicious. Thank you for a memorable stay. - An excellent country B&B, probably one of the best we have stayed in. Wonderful attention to detail. The room was extremely confortable and well thought out. The breakfast was superb. A huge range of breads, cheeses, meats, yoghurt s etc. The grounds were a delight, full of scultures and suprises! The house over looks Wells Cathedral and Glastonbury Tor in the distance. Would definitely recommend to anyone staying in the area.

  Wonderful room, as it was our anniversary they upgraded us,beautiful gardens fantastic view. Very welcoming staff decor great.Everything great! - Spacious room with stunning view of Wells Cathedral. Good hearty english breakfasts were served. The Beryl is full of interest and character.

  The Crown is in an excellent position in this lovely little city: right on the market square (some noise in the early mornings twice a week but the hotel provides ear plugs and the farmers' market is excellent) opposite the cathedral and bishop's palace. You can walk straight out onto the cobbled streets of the high street or walk around the peace... what people say » ful gardens of the bishop's palace. The Crown is very old, so floors are a bit uneven but this just adds to the character. The bedroom decor is lookin - I've stayed in a couple of chain hotels recently for business which were as expensive, or much more expensive than the Crown, and though the rooms were high end, everything else was pretty awful. The Crown is a complete ray of sunshine by comparison - really delicious food (and phenomenally good value if you eat an evening meal between 6 - 7pm - only 13 quid for three courses of fabulous home cooked restaurant grade food).
