    We stayed in the new Silver Suite - it was extremely comfortable with a most beautiful view across the water. Needless to say, but the food was magnificently presented and absolutely delicious. The staff were exceptionally courteous and delightfully friendly. You felt you were staying with friends. We certainly hope to visit again. - Warm, friendly welcome on arrival and kind assistance from Russell. Comfortable room with magnificent view of the lake. We had originally booked for two nights but had to leave after just one night due to family reasons - hotel staff were very kind in this regard. Excellent breakfast.

    The service was second to none. The staff were very cheerful and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble. The atmosphere was relaxed and very restful. - very friendly and cosy. great food. perfect place for a romantic weekend.we have been in the hotel twice and we cant wait to go back.

    Warm and comfortable with everything we could want. Stayed in Silverdale which was large with a gorgeous bathroom and comfortable bed. Great choice for breakfast. - Friendly atmosphere created by the staff and excellent servicethroughout. Rooms are very spacious and have recently been decorated toa high standard.

    this was our first visit to the lamplighter we were very impressed with the friendliness of all the staff we arrived with our 2 cavalier dogs who were made a big fuss of we also were asked if we wanted to eat in a separate room so the dogs could be with us which we declined as they are more than happy to stay in their sleeping crate .the breakfas... what people say » t was superb as were the meals in the restaurant at night initially we were only going to eat in there one night but it was so good we ate every nig - The innkeepers were charming! The hotels rooms newly decorated and the kingsize beds very comfortable with lovely pillows. The breakfast was also particularly delicious, with fresh juices, Greek yogurt with berry compote for example. They accommodated well for special vegetarian requests, even going out for veggie sausage for us for our second day's breakfast. Well done and thank you for a fantastic stay! Mr and Mrs Ryan

    Very clean and recently refurbished. Staff veryt friendly and helpful. We stayed for 2 days and had our Dinner in the hotel on both days. (there is no where else to eat in the immdiate vicinity.     We loved our stay at The Sun Inn! Alex and his staff made us feel like part of the crowd with their easy-going professionalism and friendly approach. Climbing the stairway to our room above the common rooms gave us a good feel for how life was in the early 19th century when The Sun Inn was constructed. Staff were really friendly and went out of their way to make the stay enjoyable (cheesecake at 10:30pm and putting any sports onto the tv) and created a great laid back atmosphere.     My son who is 4 years old is a fussy eater and it has been a bit of a worry to us on what he is going to eat but since the staff are very helpful and accomodating (I brought some of what my son usually like to eat and I asked the hotel to heat it for us or cook what he likes) that made everything easier. - Happy to cater for gluten-free diet - did ... what people say » not have dinner, only breakfast but was able to have gluten-free toast.     We were greeted by a very friendly man who couldn't do enough for us. He allowed us into our room much earlier than usual as we wanted to get ready for a wedding nearby. The room was lovely, clean and had all the necessary bits and bobs we needed (including a hand-held magnifying mirror!). Beds were comfortable, the bathroom was light and clean. ... what people say » Breakfast was good, plenty of it and good, prompt service. Would recommend this hotel to others. - A lovely inn with good, clean rooms and a good sized ensuite bathroom ..and, at times, a working TV... sinceours didn't work!. However, everybody pulled out all the stops to get the TV in working order; alas, it was not to be. We were offered free drinks as compensation in the pub, which we appreciated very much. Other than this amusing story, we had a great time in this lovely place and would definitely go back!

    Everything, obviously the hotels in this area are pretty old but this one was very clean and comfortable was very picturesque. The surrounding area was beautiful. We love Country Villages we would definitely stay again. - We wanted a real good value pub as a walking base for the weekend, we found one right in the middle of the lakes. We loved all the fires and so did our dogs. The rooms we ok, nothing special, but clean and comfortable. We will be returning again.

    The gables is a sweet place, more like a mini hotel than a guest house with about 15 rooms. The owners have put care and attention into the place with clean, bright rooms and a nice atmosphere. It's in a great location in Ambleside, close to everything.
