  I stayed at the Eskdale Lodge around a year ago and had a lovely stay so re-booked as I was in the area again. I'm pleased to say that the hotel is just as lovely the second time round, I stayed in the same room as before and they also have a new En-Suite. The breakfast is fantastic. Once again I felt completely at home here, and they also allowed me to stay in the bar area with my laptop while awaiting my partner to - We loved everything about this hotel from the building its self to the beautiful bathroom. We got upgraded to a bigger room due to a cancellation with no extra charge. The room was spacious, spotless and very quiet for sleeping. The staff were excellent, very friendly and helpful sorting our taxi for us. We didn't try the food as we went out all evening, but other guests we spoke to said it was wonderful. I can definitely recommend this hotel.

Accommodation is 10 min walk from train station and 5 min walk to good bus route in to manchester. Had a concert at Manchester Apollo and was £4 return on bus. This was my second stay (six nights) and I was visiting family in Heaton Moor. I had a rental car and appreciated the free car parking.   I have very seldom stayed in an inn that is as well managed as the Dog. The welcome was superb and the staff could not do enough to make me at home. The, the bar and serving staff are tru7ly excellent, the food very good indeed and the wine list well priced and excellent. How wonderful to be met by real log fires, tea made with leaves, big tea ... what people say » pots that pour and strainers that catch the leaves, Breakfasts are heroic with scrambled eggs and smoked salmon and wonderful proper kippers Philipp - The attention to detail in the room, including black-out curtains, comfortable bed, tea-making facilities (including posh tea bags), fantastic breakfast (including local produce) - and overall an excellent personal service that far exceeded many 5 star hotels that we have used. Ate in the pub every evening as it was so good - with the staff not being able to do enough for us. Please stay here rather than in one of the typical chain hotels.

  If your looking to stay in a 5 star hotel, this is not it. But for the tariff, this hotel is a little gem in Manchester. The staff were very helpful the continental breakfast was very good. Rooms were clean and adequately supplied with tea and coffeee making facilties. Big and clean room. Complimentaru fair trade coffee, tea,chicolate. In the clean big bathroom there were even body lotions! Breakfast rich and plentiful. A real bargain for this price.
