Hotels near University of Hamburg

A lovely hotel, very well situated. The building houses 5 hotels and each occupies a different floor. I am unsure as to whether or not there were any interlinkages. The hotel is not fancy but the staff are helpful and very friendly. The rate included a breakfast that was more than adequate and my room was up a flight of stairs under the eaves. It was quiet and well furnished and the entire experience was a delight. It is about 2 blocks from the Dammtor rail station and one can walk to the main c - Amanda

this hotel is brilliant, location fantastic, room was beautiful and the staff are so friendly and helpful. i love this place and have stayed here about 6 times and in fact have booked for december - which is great in hamburg. bank holiday weekend in august is also lovley - especially for the Alsta Festival. i can not reccommend this hotel enough. - Janice

The hotel is in a historic building very close to the Dammtor bahnhof. In the six stories of the building five different hotels are located. Hotel Amsterdam is on the ground and second floor. My double room, booked as a single (#2) was decently sized, with wooden floor, yellow walls and a kind of "Old England" theme. Bathroom is a bit small, but new and clean. I stayed at the Grand Elysee because of its proximity to the Hamburg congress centre and I was impressed in every way. The room was very spacious, bright and elegant. The beds must have been new and very very comfortable. There is free cable internet and a nice size desk, which is very convenient if you're there on a work trip. The spa was also nice, it's great being able to swim a few lenghts in the pool after a long day. The buffet breakfast is amazing - an endless selection of warm and c - David

Stayed here 2 years ago and very impressed. Welcome at reception was as though I was old family friend hence I decided to stay here on this visit. Unlike my first visit the room was still awaiting upgrade but was nevertheless comfortable and very clean. Breakfast fine and you are asked almost on entry to the restaurant what hot drink you would like. Staff friendly and helpful - whether reception, bar ,restaurant or housekeeping. We have stayed in W hotels, several Design Hotels (this is one of them) and many boutique hotels. Side is the coolest hotel we have ever stayed in. I wish there was a reason to go back to Hamburg. We stayed one night as a stopover on a drive from London to Norway. It was just supposed to be a way station but it will turn out to be the best hotel on our trip. It is definitely more for business travelers as Hamburg does not seem to be a tourist kind of town. I won't bore you with the details - Edward
