Essen Hotels

This hotel- and the Dom in Cologne- restore my faith in Starwood hotels in Germany - as these are the excellent ones (some are not..). Pretty good location- not far from the centre (10 mins walk) and with a great view on to an autumn leafed park at the back- which was lovely. 10 mins out -by car-you also come to the Villa Hugel- amazing museum not to be missed... The hotel is very nicely done- good decor, free internet in reception, cozy feel. Great rooms- really good decor and 11/10 as nespre - Juliet

Stayed for 3 nights to visit Christmas Market and this hotel was fantastic. Great breakfast buffet. Staff friendly and helpful. Everything was spotless and the bar reasonably priced. It was so convenient for walking the city centre and there's a tram stop just round the corner. Also in a really quiet square so we heard no noise from outside throughout our stay. Would definitely stay again. Couldn't beat it for value and location. - Ian

We stay at this hotel frequently. It is smart and modern in a central location. The rooms, especially the upgrades, are spacious and well equipped and include free movies in English and German. The breakfast is extensive, but it can become very busy at weekends, even when they open additional rooms. Hotel is well placed for the theatres, shopping and within walking distance of restaurants, including a couple of good Greeks. - Wesley

A group of us stayed here whilst visiting the Essen fairground (Messe). It is very convenient for the Messe - less than 5 minutes in a taxi. The hotel itself has a bit of a strange layout - the rooms are in separate 3-storey blocks off a main corridor. However, this was fine. The rooms themselves are small compared to other German hotels we have stayed in, but pretty average for UK rooms. They were clean and bright, with a remote TV and a mini-bar. My husband and I stayed at Hotel Mecure Plaza Essen for 2 Days. The Hotel is very modern, really nice decor and the room we stayed at was very spacious, firm bed, fluffy pillows -- super cozy and comfy. Great place for business and pleasure trips. The room was super clean, amenities were excellent, from mini bar, office desk, small sitting space and highly functional bathroom and a good size tub. Recently I stayed at the Welcome Hotel in Essen from the 14th - 16th of January while I attended a business fair close by. The Hotel itself is beautiful, it is practically brand new. It has a very modern design; the rooms are in perfect condition and the staff are the friendliest I have encountered at any hotel.
