The location--a pleasant, 5-minute walk from Union Square--is a block east of Market Street, and the street people and beggars were present but neither threatening nor bothersome. We loved the clean, "classic," design of the rooms, with Empire style decor (mirrors, artwork), cozy beds, and everything very clean. - It was a very nice stay with a ro... what people say » om that had all the amenities one does like while travelling. As well room service as front desk were extremely polite and helpful, the room spotless clean. The "antique" flair is well preserved and we could not find the area dangerous in any way like another comment stated.

I'm not sure why this hotel doesn't get better reviews. My
girlfriend and I stayed for two days and had a great experience. The
staff was friendly, the location was great, room was clean and updated.

Terrific suite with fantastic view of the Golden Gate Bridge. Welcoming
and helpful staff. Convenient parking, although daily charge of $25 plus
tax seemed a little high. Good continental breakfast, with fresh fruit,
pastries, and bagels, bread, preserves etc. Great location for walking
to Fishermans Wharf etc, or the great value bus into the city.

Our stay at the Holiday Inn Fisherman's Wharf was great. We had a clean, tidy room that was serviced daily. We were a block walk away from where our hop on hop off bus departed from. Location was great! Just 5min walk to Pier 39.
A lot safer area to stay than where people from our tour were staying (Union Square area) as there were very few ... what people say » homeless people, crackheads etc. I felt a lot safer staying down here and walking around at night. Bear in mind you do have to still have to be mind -
The location is perfect for those who want to explore San Fran on foot.

Friendly and efficient staff, quick check-in (and a couple of hours earlier than scheduled time), nice breakfast, quiet and comfortable room, nice toiletery products in the bathroom, great proximity to Union Square and public transport, great value for money. I would stay at this hotel again and will certainly highly recommend it to my family and ... what people say » friends. I also really liked the many tributes in the hallways to US servicemen. -
The hotel has a lovely feel to it - pleasant staff on arrival; comfortable rooms; well positioned for an easy stroll into town and access to all amenities. A free daily happy hour from 4pm to 6pm was a very welcome unexpected bonus. As the name of the hotel might suggest there are strong links to the military and as a visitor from the UK it was pleasing to see the level of respect that is shown.
