our stay was excellent! we were a young couple traveling on a budget. we had no complaints and we felt we got our money's worth. the manager was so nice!! we read in another review that the room was noisy, but it was understandable because the hotel is located on a cable car route. the noise was manageable and fine to sleep with. everything from th... what people say » e room, bathroom, location, bed, service, price, safety, to the staff was better than most places we stayed for that price. will stay here next time!! -
I liked the price, the location worked well and was safe, albeit 'downhill' from Nob hill. My initial anxiety about the location disappeared quickly. My room was cozy, in the basement, and turned out to be very quiet. Bed comfortable, room clean. I had fresh air from a window on an inner courtyard, and even with the window open could hardly hear traffic. Hotel was fairly quiet, overall.

I marked romance/honeymoon to describe this hostel in a light-hearted way to bring up a notable feature about its North Beach location: situated at the foot of San Francisco's red light district on Broadway, the Europa hotel and hostel sits directly above a strip club! Travelors should find the location ideal during the daytime, central to both Li... what people say » ttle Italy and Chinatown, mere blocks from tourist spots, fine restaurants and parks, as well as Muni bus lines leading to every corner of the City. The staff are excellent, they always treat me with dignity and respect
and the Europa is now my official choice of stay whenever i'm in San
Francisco. No outrageous deposits and even booked my airport shuttle
without any hassle. My number one recommendation for any budget traveler
who wants to stay somewhere in the city that is safe, clean and
comfortable. Thanks to the Europa staff you guys are the greatest, and I
will see you the next time I am in town.

The front staff are excellent. The location for everything can not be beat. The room was big and I like that there is a dresser to unpack my clothes and hangers to hang stuff up. There are 2 showers and 2 toilets on each floor. Never had to wait for either. The place was awesome for our needs. I'm not someone who likes to pay a lot of money for a ... what people say » room I'm hardly in. The price is phenomenal for San Francisco. As well, Dottie's, which is a fantastic place for breakfast, is right next door. -
They have done a great job restoring the building. The showers and
restrooms were always clean. The washers and dryers were brand new and
worked very well. The staff here are cool. Great place to stay. The area
doesn't bother me, but I was born and raised in San Francisco. Most
of the freaky people are on the other side of Mission Street.
