Washington Hotels

I stayed here for one night with my boyfriend. we stayed in a club room on the 4th floor which was lovely. We were given free water,fruit and chocs which i thought was a nice touch. We also had breakfast at the hotel which was very nice - the resturant was lovely with great views of the city! We went to see ''the ratpack'' and then went out afterwards to a club in covent garden. A black cab to covent garden was about £13 which i thought was very good! Overall a wonderfull stay and i would love - David

We booked the hotel for its location on the map, it has a subway station semi close (5 min walk) and the sightseeing tours stop relatively closeby. We booked a room with 2 queens but on arrival we were offered a king bed by the hotel which was a great service. The room came with a free wired internet connection (no wireless available) which worked out great for us. Staff was helpfull and our room was clean and well kept throughout our stay. My only negative comment would be that the hotel - Katie

I have no idea what everyone is complaining about. We arrived Monday at 11am and they allowed us to check in that early. We had a beautiful clean room with comfortable pillows and bed with a stunning view of the Washington Momument. Service was amazing and they were very helpful. We had a 11 month old with us and they were nothing but accomodating, even offering us a pack in play for her. The hotel is located above the Metro. I would def stay here again. Well worth what we payed for. - Susan

I just got back from Washington - first pleasure trip there in 25 years and had a wonderful time. The River Inn was the perfect place to stay. I made the reservations on line and it was easy - better than dealing with on line booking places. Plus, they offered promotional items via email - - a discount at the Hotel Restaurant - - a discount for a charitable donation - and that was all because I booked directly with them. I called several times and the staff was always very helpful and courteous. - Peter

I stayed in The Normandy hotel in September of this year with my boyfriend. I have to say it was the best 2 nights sleep i've ever had. The bed was so comfortable i just wanted to take it home with me!! The hotels location was perfect situated in a quiet area but a short walk from the dupointe circle where there are nice restaurants/bars. I would also recommend the breakfast at the hotel. Lots of variety giving you a great start to the day. Servce was also excellent. - David

Clean, unique (non-chain), in a beautiful neighborhood close to the metro. A great room with lots of amenities, especially for what I paid via the web. The free parking lot behind the hotel is very small- don't count on finding a space. There's a nice, reasonably priced garage just down the street, however. I would definitely return. - Robert

I've stayed in this hotel twice now and been very impressed both times. Overall the hotel is very modern and trendy. The lobby and adjoining bar is mainly white in colour and has a range of large unique furniture, reminding me somewhat of Alice in Wonderland! The cool lighting, many mirrors and unique leaf-shaped seat and bed also impress. The lift is comfy as you can rest your head against the soft sofa-style walls on your way up to your room! We stayed in a 2 bedroom suite. It was very comfortable for 4 adults. My only complaint was the pull out bed. The sheets didn't appear to be fresh and I had to call twice for pillows. The continenal breakfast was very nice. Plenty of choices are offered. We enjoyed out stay and plan to return in the future. The hotel is very close to the stores and places to eat in downtown Georgetown. - Daffern

I have stayed 3 times at this wonderful hotel . The location is perfect for sight seeing,and its only minutes away from Foggy Bottom underground train station which will take you out to Penn City Shopping Mall . This hotel is rather old fashioned and makes no apology ,that is its charm. The rooms are large beautifully furnished in sutle yellow and blue . OK the bathrooms are small but the wash basin is not contained in the bathroom. The hotel staff are superb from the porter ,the desk staff, - Graham

My wife and I just spent another weekend vacation at this hotel. We enjoyed ourselves very much. The room was very large with many amenities, including a large screen flat tv, a microwave oven, a coffee maker, etc. The room service was very good, as was the front desk service. The breakfast buffet is very satisfactory, with eggs, cereal, pastries, coffee, etc. Because it is located not within easy walking distance of a metro station, the hotel provides a very convenient and cordial van service t - Rachel

Some thoughts regarding our 4 night stay at the Churchill: * About 4 blocks from the Dupont Circle Metro - the neighborhood is great * The renovation brings new furnishings, TV, etc yet the hotel retains an old historic feel. * Excellent, polite, professional staff - they went out of their way to help us when we had an issue. * Very small bathrooms * Comfortable beds with nice linens * Quiet * A restaurant and bar are in the hotel; 24 hour room service * Free use of hotel computers in th - Wendy

it was clean, service was good. nothing to say against this hotel but definetely not THE hotel to stay in DC - Karl

We just returned from four days in DC and were very happy with the hotel! Breakfast included self-made waffles, juices, muffins, hard-boiled eggs, cereal - something for all of us and enough to keep a teenage boy fed for a few hours. We were able to walk to transportation and to an Ethiopian restaurant (there were other options, too) pretty easily. We did alot of walking and really looked forward to the hot coffee and warm cookies waiting for us in the lobby in the evenings. The hotel is central - Paul
