San Francisco Hotels

We stay at the Huntington frequently when we come to SF. My family and I have stayed there for years and with good reason. It's unique among small luxury hotels because all the rooms are different. You do need to know which rooms to book so browse the site carefully and inquire if you've never stayed there before. Everyone's taste varies, so its important to know which room decor or room types you prefer as they are not the same like the Ritz or most hotels. But once you know this and you do a l - Caroline

It's expensive relative to others but you do get what you pay for. Location was unbeatable and the tram stops on the corner, so it's easy to hop into the town or down to the bay. The hotel opposite has a roof top bar but get there early as we had to queue! - Julian

Let me say that the hotel was very nice and friendly which was to be expected. Making the reservation was easy even though it was done at the last minute and I got an excellent rate too. It was a group rate but I wasn't expecting to use it until the last minute and they were able to accomodate me. Check in was painless, and we didnt get there til about 9pm that night. The restaurant was still open and the wifi was free. The exercise room and pool was still open too. Nice to work off some stea - Linda

We stayed at the hotel over a long weekend, prior to leaving for Ireland and we had the best time at the hotel. Six women, ranging in age from 17 to 50, we walked from the hotel to Chinatown, caught the transit up the street and rode to Pier 39 one day, went to the farmer's market up in the square the morning we left. We did not feel safe leaving the hotel on foot at night, we saw a few drug transactions on the streets as we walked around during the day and lots of homeless people at the donut s - Anthony

At first sight this hotel seems blandly mainstream and you wouldn't think it would leave a lasting impression. The location of this hotel could not be better and the quality is consistent and excellent value. We booked a Club Room and were on the 28th Floor with magnificent views of the city and the Bay area. The Club Lounge is a good place to have breakfast, although it is closed during weekends. The information sheet said it would be open on Sunday evening, but it wasn't. The room is comf - Melanie

We only stayed for 1 night but we enjoyed the hotel. The location is great. We took the sightseeing bus right from the front of the hotel. The area is full of stores and restaurants. Te breakfast was great (not included). We got a room on the 36th floor and the view was great. The parking is pretty expensive! - Alf

The Donatello is perfectly located one block from from Union Square, so you're surrounded by amazing shopping, restaurants and cable car stops. The hotel staff was wonderful-helpful with maps, umbrellas, cabs-anything we needed was provided quickly and pleasantly! The room was very large-my husband and I shared the king size bed, while my daughter slept on the pull out sofa bed, and we had plenty of room to maneuver. My boyfriend and I decided to attend the recent engagement of Ashford & Simpson at the Nikko. Since I had previously been a guest of the Nikko and was impressed with the excellent accomodations and service, I suggested that we spend the night so that we could really enjoy the event and not drive home Saturday night after the show. We also made a reservation for Sunday brunch. Of course, the show was fabulous, brunch was delicious and hotel was still as wonderful as I remembered. My boyfriend - Angus

This hotel was tip top. Bit of a sketchy location but we had no problems with anyone and walked along the street several times each day. We found the Americans very friendly and the receptionists where lovely to us espeically the beautiful one from Uzbekistan who i want to marry. Overall though the staff where very helpful and i would recommend checking out the ruby skye nightclub and thank you again for putting up with 4 drunken English clowns. Dan Burnett - Kevin

We had a great rate and our main reason for the stay was seeing the South Pacific at the Gplden Gate Theatre. The location of the Sir Francis Drake was perfect as you are pretty much in the heart of Union Square. The staff was helpful and they have good business center that we needed to use. The place itself is filled with so much history. The rooms had the old beautiful old big windows to see the city. We had a great view from our room. Rooms were very clean and housekeeping staff very helpful. - Mark

This hotel is a great place to be based out of. Very centrally located, steps from the MUNI and BART, and cable cars. The rooms are very clean, very basic, ceiling fan, heating, nice bathroom, simple amenities. If you go to this place expecting a very clean motel-like room, with excellent staff = thats what you receive. If you want a 5-star hotel, look somewhere else. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and kind. I got my wake up calls on time, and received my faxes/fedexes on time. Everything - John
