Siena Hotels

We stayed in the Hotel Athena a few nights in October. It was great! Clean, comfy, location was good. Would definitely recommend this hotel. Front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. The view from the roof of the hotel was stunning, a must see. The only problem we had was the internet service was spotty. - David

Totally charming and so comfortable. I felt like I had been transported in time and absolutely loved the historical atmosphere. Everyone was so helpful in seeing that I had all the information I required for getting to other locations. I stayed there four days using it as my hub for exploring other sites in Tuscany. I found the location very convenient for me as I took several road trips to smaller towns seeking places of Etruscan history and yes, also, wine making as well. Every morning I awoke - Abhro

We read about this hotel on several travel websites and chose it for the location, photos and solid positive reviews. Once in Italy, on our way from Venice to Florence on the train, we met an Italian woman (who happened to be born and raised in Siena). We chatted about where we'd been and where we were going. What a rare privilege to be able to spend a night in a "cave" albeit one with such modern amenities. Our very gracious hosts were happy to share the history of our particular cave that had once been a church. Fluent English speakers they were also most helpful about suggesting sights further along on our itinerary in Albergobello and Trani. The breakfast was treat to wake up to. I would definitely recommend a detour to delight in this lovely hotel and the sights offered by the town. - Ashleigh

Just returned from a business trip in Tuscany and the surrounding area. Without a doubt, the NH Excelsior was my favorite hotel of the entire trip. As a single traveler, European hotels tend to provide tiny rooms with single beds and a cramped shower stall. Not the NH Excelsior: I had a Queen-size bed, with top quality sheets, a deep tub with great water pressure, and top-notch appointments throughout. Cleanliness was excellent. We stayed three days in the hotel. It is located about 20 minutes walk from the city walls and from there about 10 more to the Piazza and Doumo. If you do not like walking there is a bus (#7) just outside . By walking to viale Cavour (1/2 mile) you will be able to take any bus and will not have to wait for the #7 that comes every 30 minutes. We had a queen size, iron cast bed. I liked the mattress but it was too hard for my wife. The bathroom was huge for European standards and the shower one - Martin

We were in Siena for our daughters wedding together with family and friends. The hotel Grand Continental was the base for our wedding party and also provided the reception after the ceremony. We had a magical day and the hotel gave us a day to remember. The reception in the ballroom was beyond our expectation, the service, food and the way the hotel catered for all our requirements was excellent. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough for anyone who wants that extra special holiday/celebrat - Fiona

We stayed in Sienna only three days. This small hotel was a surprize and delight. Wheelchair accessible, ground floor rooms. Great breakfastL Helpful staff. Arrived late in evening, they directed us to a restaurant nearby that had the best pizza we'd ever eaten. Very clean, with comfortable bed..room not huge, but cozy. - Stephen
