Palermo Hotels

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights at this hotel. Our room at the back of the hotel was clean and quiet, though we had to change from the original room on the 1st floor at the back which had a bad smell. Make sure you are on a higher floor away from the street. Breakfast was delicious with a great selection of eggs, meats, fresh fruit, pastries, yogurt etc. Free parking was a great benefit, though we didn't drive during the time we were in Palermo. The decision to go to Sicily on Holiday was a last minute one, so we didn't find that many available hotels. Many of the places we saw online seemed overpriced and had outdated decor, when we came accross the Porta Felice the photos we saw on the website looked nice, but for the price we honestly weren't expecing anything too fancy, so when we arrived at the hotel the luxurious decor (especially of the bedrooms was a nice surprise), the bed was incredibly comfy (we stayed here for 3 nights) and - Ranjit

I was at the Astoria Palace for 2 weeks during the month of August. The negative facts: The swimming pool is closed and the exercise room, however when they finish the work it will be a very nice attraction to the hotel, both are in the 14th floor roof. The hotel is not new and shows signs of wear and tear but the attentiveness and the promptness of the staff and the variety of mouth watering Sicilian and Italian dishes and the excellent service both at the restaurant and the "American Bar& - Carl

My wife and I stayed at the Del Centro in May, when the weather was warm but not too hot. We only stayed for a few nights, but we found our time there to be truly enjoyable. The city itself is without comparison; easily the most beautiful I've ever been to, and the Del Centro was located, well, centrally. Close to the rail station, close to buses, close to fantastic upscale shopping. After reading some of the less positive reviews about this hotel, I didn't have high expectations. But, to the contrary of many reviews, we found the hotel to be clean and very charming. Renovations were still taking place during our visit. Definately ask for a renovated room and, if you don't want to be awakened early in the morining, ask for a room by the courtyard. I am always a little relucant to stay at an unbranded hotel with the word "Grand" in the title - especially if you book it sight unseen and over the internet. Well what a fabulous hotel the Grand Wagner Hotel is Palermo, the rooms are big, comfortable and of a 5 star level - they are sparkling clean. The staff at this hotel are a real credit and at all times they were friendly and always willing to please. The location is ideal too. If you need a hotel in Palermo do try this property - - Colin

I should preface this review as Palermo is not for everyone. Although my time in Palermo and Sicily was one of the best times I've had while on vacation. I was fully prepared that parts of Palermo were a little rough and tumble and tended to avoid the seedier parts of town. For those travelers interested in visiting Sicily by car and would like to make Palermo "homebase" I would highly recommned this hotel. This was one of many stops that my father and I made this summer as part of a graduation trip. First off, I would like to echo what a few other people said: Take the bus from the airport. Some taxi driver wanted $75 to go to the hotel, when the bus was only $5 or so. Just ask the nice driver where Via Roma street is, and then ask people on the street for the hotel direction. On another note, we got around Palermo by using the sight seeing bus that picks up just a few blocks from the hotel. - Juan

We had a lovely stay at the Hilton Palermo Excelsior and thought that this hotel is very underrated. We stayed here for 2 nights after getting a summer special rate online (Stay 2 nights for the price of one), which worked out at about €75 a night with breakfast. We thought this was an amazing deal and after staying in the hotel we would have happily paid full price. The room we were given (King Guest Room plus) was very spacious, tastefully decorated, quiet, and we didn't see any of the renovat - Margaret

I booked a junior suite but it was't very nice. The breakfast was excellent. The position could be better. The staff were very formal. - Matthew

Hotel Posta is a short taxi ride from the train station and well located in the heart of Palermo. The hotel staff is very friendly and receptive to answering all of our questions. The rooms are nice with sufficient room. Although the entrance is from a narrow street fifty feet from the main street is well marked and not difficult to find.
