which is about a 10 minute walk straight down Calle Atocha); the young,
ultra-helpful staff was a pleasure to deal with - they are sharp people

I rarely give top marks on the grounds there should always be room for some improvement but I'm struggling to find any fault with the Catalonia Atocha. Within half an hour of booking I received a "welcome" email from the hotel with detailed and useful information on how to find the hotel whatever the mode of transport, I’ve never had this before from an hotel, it boded well and I was not disappointed.
Without exception the staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful, and equally happy to speak

The location is good for all the major transport sites - The bed - they make a point about their comfortable beds and it's true. Also the interior room was very peaceful and the room was a good size. Very convenient for Atocha station as well as the Prado. Nice area.

The hotel was what I would consider a 5 star. The decor were very modern, very comfortable, immaculate. The shower was spacious and had three different shower heads. A nice touch for the weary traveler.

Fantastic hotel, overlooking retiro park. You heard no noise from other people staying in the hotel and the room was fabulous. Even had a laptop provided in the room with free wifi. Friendly staff and if you want to come back to the hotel at 6am they let you in no problem. Great location and a beautiful building, even the tourits on the tour bus took photos of the building! I would stay again and recommend to anyone.

Everything was top class, location, comfort, facilities, staff. Only discomfort would be smoking allowed in hotel bar, and indeed most of the restaurants/bars are still smoking zones. - Good central location, but at the same time very quiet. Comfortable room, helpful staff.

Great location, about 30 seconds walk from Gran Via station. Close to lots of shops, bars and restaurants. Journey time from the airport on the metro approximately 35 minutes but bit of a headache if you have large bags as some of the connecting stations have steps. Really nice staff and decor. The location to all the places i wanted to go was very central - The room was clean, quiet and the staff were friendly, I would go there again. It was well situated, a few streets up there is a good shopping street (Madrid version of Camden).
