Santiago de Compostela Hotels

We struggled with our directions to locate the hotel which is on a busy road and the car parking is away from the hotel in a public underground car park. We just dropped off our luggage first then parked the car. Our first impression of the hotel was one of friendliness and welcoming. The staff answered any questions and queries with good local knowledge. The hotel itself is perfectly located for sightseeing with modern updated furniture and facilities. The rooms were large, comfortable, and quiet. The staff was great, and very helpful. The hotel was a block from the Cathedral, and within walking distance of all Santiago sights. We walked the Camino de Santiago, and stayed at the San Francisco Hotel Monumento before and after our walk. The restaurant was very good. We were very pleased. - John

The trip started well long before we arrived. All necessary communication with the hotel gave us the impression that everything would be very well organized at our arrival. And so it was! We got a very warm welcome, a room that suited perfectly our wishes, were impressed by the building's mixture of old and new elements and really enjoyed every moment of our stay. The hotel is 15 min walk from Rua Franco,which is the main bar/tapas street and another 5min to the cathedral.Very well equipped hotel ,although the exterior looks a little tired.We paid 73 euros for a double with another 8 each for breakfast,which was very good with lots of choice.Rooms are nicely appointed and reception very helpful.Small car park at the front and the hotel was easy to find. - Alison

I stayed at this hotel in February and I now came back with my husband and a couple of friends as I love my other stay here. The hotel is just 4 blocks from the pedestrian streets and historic centre so you dont listen to all the noise of the people coming to Santiago Catedral and this wonderfull city It has big and nice classic rooms, very very clean and with wonderfull sheets. the reception is also very big and fancy and the people working there very friendly. Relaxing Comfortable Hotel - Claire

First of all, I must refer that this hotel is no longer a member of the Tryp hotels, and has changed its name to Torres de Compostela Hotel (TC Hotel). I have stayed in this hotel with my husband during a congress he had in A Coruña (no hotels were available there!), for 2 nights. It was our 2nd time in Santiago and we chose this hotel based on the price (60€ for a stardard double room excluding breakfast). The hotel does not quite make is 5* grading but it is was a good choice with excellent rates available from the hotel direct, or from hotel internet sites. It cost approx 15 euros in a taxi from the airport. It is situated about a 35 min walk to the centre of the old town (6-7 euros in a taxi in less than 10 mins). After the excellent breakfast that included cereals,fresh fruit, cold meats, cheeses, bacon and fried eggs to name but a few items, the walk was needed to burn off some calories. - Michael
