Location is central a little the wrong side of town but this is why it is cheap I thnk if you can go along with the crazies around its fine. Beautiful hotel well above its class rating with lovely staff - Hotel Whitcomb was clean, very pleasant. Room had beautiful decorations, bathroom and the whole experience was excellent. This place is a 90 year old hotel and it wears it well. It's elevator is a clicketly-clack apparatus with a scissor gate-that you have to hold the floor number for a couple of seconds to roll- did I feel safe using it? Yes. Did I think it added to the ambiance? Absolutely. The hotel obviously has had infrastructure,safety and comfort improvements

quirky and my room was clean and provided a comfortable bed, clean linen
and towels, a bay window overlooking the Museum of Asian Art and a

Walking distance (5 mins) to the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium. We were only in town to see a concert and this hotel was a great place to stay the night afterwards. It's not really fancy, or spacious, but it's good place to rest your head for a great price. The staff was friendly as well. -

All desk staff were extremely courteous, polite and helpful.
Room Service even folded clothes that were on the floor and laid them on the bed.
I plan to return to san Francisco next year and would more than likely stay here again.
