Good location near the Palaces, Opera and Plaza Mayor but on a quietish side street. Good sized pleasant room. Everything was top class, location, comfort, facilities, staff. Only discomfort would be smoking allowed in hotel bar, and indeed most of the restaurants/bars are still smoking zones. - Good central location, but at the same time very quiet. Comfortable room, helpful staff.

I rarely give top marks on the grounds there should always be room for some improvement but I'm struggling to find any fault with the Catalonia Atocha. Within half an hour of booking I received a "welcome" email from the hotel with detailed and useful information on how to find the hotel whatever the mode of transport, I’ve never had this before from an hotel, it boded well and I was not disappointed.
Without exception the staff were welcoming, friendly and helpful, and equally happy to speak
