  Loved my stay at the Coconut Waikiki! This hotel is such a great deal for Waikiki and the location is perfect - right on the canal so a little quieter than being right on the main strip. Decor looks just like the hotel photos - fresh and modern. Very comfy beds, was sad to leave them. All the reviews about the canal side being noisy are accurate -... what people say » if you're a light sleeper, bring earplugs, but the air conditioning unit helps cancel out the sound at night. Go for a mountain view room for sure. S - I loved the cute decour, the room was well kept and clean. I know that people have made comments about the continental breakfast and so I was prepared for the worst but I honestly thought it was good. There may not be a lot of choice but it got me through the morning. Also considering that there was a kichenette in my room, I could always buy breakfast goods if I wanted more. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and I would stay here again. Close to lots of shopping and the beach. Eve

  We stayed in Waikiki for our honeymoon and the hotel and staff made our stay amazing. From the minute we checked into our junior suite until checking out and beyond. We used the courtesy room for freshening up after check out due to our flight being in the evening. The hotel concierge was very helpful for our trips out.   First let start by saying that it is not the Ritz Carlton; however, this hotel is located right in the middle of Waikiki Beach. When you walk out of the lobby it is ½ block walk to the International Marketplace and a 1.5 block to the beautiful Waikiki Beach. I have read some reviews that the lot was full and they were unable to find a spot. We never encountered tha - Ilima is a gem! The decor is absolutely vintage Hawaiian.... wood, tile, wicker, tropical prints, original local artwork, and pink all over. We had room 1507 and had an amazing view of the canal and mountains. It was perfect to wake up to this every morning, with a very big balcony seating area to have coffee and tea. Studio room was also really big with a full kitchen.   My partner and I stay at The New Otani Kaimana for 2 nights early April 2013. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. When we checked in the lady was really friendly and we were upgraded to an ocean view room free of charge which was great. It was last two nights of our 17 night stay around the various islands so decided to pay a bit more than we had budgete... what people say » d for, but it was well worth it. It has it's own beach which is quieter and nicer than the main section of Waikiki beach. The locals hang out around h - This boutique hotel is "just right". Not too big, not too small, not too fancy, not too plain: relaxed, casual elegance. The food is excellent. Most of the staff have been there for years. The hotel is at the far end of Waikiki Beach, next to the Nanitorium, across from Kapiolani Park and close to Diamond Head--in short, away from the madness of Waikiki but within walking distance.
