  The location is great. Right by the water and in a 'real' part of the island. Don't take any notice of reviews that say the neighbourhood is unsafe. It is a working area and there are fishermen with gear etc. It's real!! Staff at the resort are very helpful and the atmosphere is relaxed. Good to have the pool, canoes and snorkelling gear available... what people say » . Breakfast is fine too, fruit, cereal and waffles etc. OK, this is not Honolulu, but that's why we chose it... quiet, away from the main drag... if - It was only a 5-10min walk to the Seven Eleven, and Mike’s Hulu Chicken truck and a grocery store where you can also buy alochol and foods. The room had hot plates and a microwave and kitchen. So that was more than fine. The scenery was just magnificent. The water and beautiful rich green mountains with mist. I loved the fact that it was so far away from Wakiki. (Too busy for me). My studio room was enormous and my bed was very comfortable.

  The Hilton Hawaii is a very grand and posh hotel. So obviously expensive. Facilities are very good. 8 swimming pools. Eateries. Shopping mall. Grocery etc. easily available. Beach is poor and stony. You can stay in the hotel and enjoy.   Very helpful owner, on site. Provided recommendations for places to eat, beaches to go to, other adventures. Also made sure he was around to say goodbye when we left. Far enough from Hilo, but close enough to get there in 20 minutes. Comfortable living spaces. Pool was open and available any time, even if we were to come home late from dinner... what people say » . Garry gave us his cell phone number and told us he'd warm up the hot tub whenever we needed it. - The best we have ever been! Wonderful garden, pool and view! Garry was super friendly and helpful. I wish we could stay more days there :)
