  This motel is in a good location at the east end of the main street through town - close to shopping, dining and Mesa Verde National Park. The free continental breakfast was better than I expected for a motel in this price range. The breakfast room was small but cute and very clean with an attentive front desk clerk keep - The room was very clean and they allowed pets. The rooms were back off the highway, whereas other motel/hotels in this area were not. The benches outside the rooms and table and chairs on the grassy area outside were a nice plus in the evening.

  It was recently remodeled so that made it very nice. The hot tub was great. Breakfast was your typical continental style so it was fine. Seemed to possibly be owner operated as I saw the same 2 people doing all the work. My impression was that they take very good care of thei business. But maybe they are just awesome employees.   Loved the location right in downtown. The room was exceptionally clean and the sheets and towels were luxurious. Also, the room was very spacious for a motel room.   I read some of the reviews here before booking, some great, some not so great, but the price was the best in town, so I figured heck, I'll give it a try. For my stay, The best part of this hotel is the owners hospitality. They went out of their way to make us feel at home. What a pleasant surprise when I went I went to my room and found furniture that one might find in a bedroom at home. Not the usual drab, cheap, hotel furniture in most hotels. The last time I was in Salida I stayed at a nearby hotel that literally has 2 x 8 boards attached to the walls & covered with wood grain contact paper. Yuk. Anyway,

Spend time in Winter Park on the off season and you will meet the real people the Local - this hotel is a gem. When we pulled up to the front, we had concerns as it was very plain but that ius where our concers ended. The rooms were huge, clean, very comfortable with all of the amemnities you could think of. The closet was HUGE - big enough to house a guest. Good continental breakfast, the owner is a great guy who is very helpful. Short walk to town and close to the ski area.
