  The location to downtown Chicago, for a fraction of the cost of other hotels, is what interested me the most about the Chinatown Hotel. Tons of restaurants in the area, and the front desk clerk even recommended a couple favorites. The subway entrance in Chinatown was not accessible at the time of our stay, but even a cab ride to the downtown area ... what people say » was very reasonable (especially with the large group I was travelling with, riding the subway would've cost about the same). There is a parking garage - This is the most budget-conscious lodging you can get in Chicago without going the hostel-with-shared-bathroom route. The price is comparable to a chain motel in the suburbs, but you get the excitement of staying in one of the most interesting neighborhoods in the City.   Well kept. Atmosphere was swanky. Enjoyed the "wine hour". We're a little older than the young crowd that seemed to dominate the guest list which provided some interesting people/dog watching during the wine hour. - The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was snowing out and they let me borrow an umbrella for free.
