  Best value!!!! I loved having the restaurant on the same floor as our room. We visited happy hour and drank their signature cocktails for only $5 each! And not to mention wine Wednesday - half off bottles!!! So happy! We also loved walking to little Italy for dinner. We had a delicious dinner. Our cab ride to gaslamp was only $13 with tip.   Staff were extremely friendly & helpful especially the young man who welcomed us on our arrival the evening of 24th July, after a long journey he brightened our day! - Location to old town, close to all cool the cool things to do in san diego.   Pretty much everything. For a best western it has so much character, very nice design, nice to look at and rooms were spacious, clean and well maintained. Nice pool area and fitness suite.   The size of this resort hotel was much larger than I expected with a lot of nice amenities (restaurants, etc.) on grounds that we did not use (but would in the future). Our room was nice, comfortable, and clean. I thought the room & hotel were nicely decorated, other than the creepy doll painting in our room (landscape is better, no eyes). And so beautiful! We lived in a room with to large queen size. It was very spacious and a bit old fashioned. But in a good way. It was close to a big mall, which we really approved. We didn't have breakfast included, but there is a nice café in the area (the hotel is in a very big area and has a lot of rooms all over the place) that had good sandwiches and Starbuck coffee.

  This was my 18th hotel in 30 days and was the best. The gaslight district is a short walk and there is heaps to do in the area. The staff went out of there way to advise on things to do. I liked the personal touch of a "sail boat" greeting card, which everyone signed, placed in the hotel room.
