Hotels near Columbia University

my family and i reserved a room at morningside inn for 9 nights we booked a deluxe double with a private bathroom, the room was pretty clean the staff was friendly helped us book tours around the city. their is 24 hour service at the front desk which was a plus! our room was cleaned daily fresh sheets and towels the location was perfect just a 5 minute subway ride to 42 street time square and 7 blocks from Columbia University. we enjoyed our stay and hope to return pretty soon! - Michel

I booked to go to NYC a year ago and to be honest I was a little nervous about heading to this hotel after reading some of the reviews that appeared after we booked however the whole trip was AMAZING!! We were up on 103rd street which was a perfect location as it was nice and quiet at night. There is a subway station right outside the hotel which was fantastic for getting around, it cost us $27 each for a 7 day subway pass which could be used on any line so no need to pay for taxis. We stayed at West End Studios last week and there was nothing wrong. It does not deserve its bad reviews. If you book directly it is cheaper, and for this price it was perfect. The staff were friendly and when we checked in they gave us the option to look at our room first. The room is basic, but they provide towels and there is a maid service if you ask for it. If not they leave your room alone. The heating was a little sporadic but not hard to deal with! The bathrooms were clean and pl - Tony

I was greatly surprised, for New York, everyone was so Friendly, and James the Manager, was very helpful, and answered all my questions. The guests, were from all over the world, and very behaved, there was no noise on the sleeping floors after 10 Pm. I couldn't get over how clean everything was including the rooms and bathrooms. They have a very nice big lounge on the lower floor for the Guests, where they can, bring their own drinks, watch TV, play pool, cook and eat their own food, also a lar - Andrea
