  We wanted to stay in an original Route 66 motel. We wanted to feel what things were like back at the time Route 66 was popular. We really enjoyed the old cars in the courtyard. The owners were very friendly and eager to provide information on history and places to eat and things to see. - This is a historical motel. The motel was first built in the early/mid 1900's. They have several old cars and articles that are from the early 20th century. We both enjoy the old Route 66 type atmosphere. AND, the showers with high water pressure were absolutely GREAT! The owners were also very friendly and knowledgeable.

  Overall 2 thumbs up. Would expect a lower quality place for the price. Upon arrival I was pleased with the exterior appearance. This then extended to the professional staff. ALL were extremely helpful in pointing out places of interest and how to get around. This pleasure continued once I saw the accommodations. Although I can afford to stay where ever....when I need a hotel in the Barstow area...I will always choose California I - Motel has rooms with view to the unexpectedly large Pool. They have a back door and even a small terrace. We were a party of four with older children and the room was spacious and absolutely sufficient. We used the guest laundry and everything was in good working order and the prices were absolutely ok. The complimentary breakfast was a nice add on! We can strongly recommend the California Inn.

  The staff was very very helpful so when they realized they made a mistake with the booking they provided their own ice instead of refrigator. In the morning they even made a coffee just for us. Very friendly people. - The room was clean the staff was very friendly it was small and cozy very similar to home.

  I arrived really late and the very kind owner at the desk offered to let me stay an extra hour after check out the next morning. The price was really good too. - Directly on Route 66; with some efforts this Motel could be a jewel!!! We don't understand how it is possible to ruin such a place!

  Fantastic value for money. Huge room, very clean and had everything you would need. Lots of parking spots. Near to the restaurants and stores. The lady at the reception was very friendly and even helped out with printing my boarding passes despite not knowing how to do it herself :) - Easy to find, excellent price, really good value.
