    Everything about Old Downton Lodge was perfect. We could not have wished for a better place to have stayed. David the Manager came to greet us as we arrived and his friendly, courteous manner continued throught our stay. The setting was stunning and the atmosphere was warm and relaxed whilst providing guests with that something special. The setting is quiet and peaceful and the restored ancient buildings are indescribably beautiful.     Great location on the River Wye with option of River Ferry (hand pulled). Excellent fishing and canoe facilities with camp site next door. Rooms are done very tastefully to very high standard with everything and more besides. Breakfast is probably one of the best i have ever had which makes the B&B rate fantastic. Great selection of local beer... what people say » s and ciders to try too. - It was surprisingly quiet for a busy pub/hotel and good for sleeping. Had a lovely view from the window. Got good customer service and a good positioned table for dinner. Food was very good too, and not like the sort of "pub food" we expected to find.

    This is a really professional hotel which excels in thoughtful touches. Although I had a single room, the bed was generous and comfortable.     The comfiest bed I have EVER slept in at a hotel of any kind in my life! Basic but has everything you need. Lovely owners, helpful, there when you need them, but not getting in your business when you don't want. Offered very varied breakfast options and supplied extras for our special dietary needs.     A very old inn, of real character, with an intriguing history and attractive name; a place that has been through a lot in its time, and with a touch of eccentricity that we loved. A genuinely friendly atmosphere with spacious accommodation in a new timber building set apart from the inn. The wine and the main meal and breakfast were excellent. - Friendly staff, quiet location, good food (including real chips!), good beer, room 4 was a good size with a beautiful view - wish the weather had been good enough to sit out on the balcony. Quality bed linen, towels and bath robes also quality toiletries. Very clean and lovely bathroom. Real glasses in room and bathroom - not plastic as we got in a more expensive hotel!

    Based in a small village, the pub is a good location for visiting Hereforshire and Welsh Borders. The Pub has been recently renovated to a good standard and the room was very comfortable, modern and clean. Food in the pub was good but quite pricey. We were there at a quiet time of year and the restarurant was quiet but the bar was welcoming. There... what people say » seemed to be some disorganisation in the ordering of food as one night a number of the dishes were not available. A nice place to stay but they need - I booked Kilpeck because it had been refurbished. I like that everything was clean and uncluttered and comfortable. Great that they have used an eco friendly approach. Modern clean bathroom (essential) good quality bedding and towels

    Really lovely place to stay..Bill the owner was always on hand with a smile and friendly chat.....The open log fires throughout were so nice to see in this age of plastic hotels.....the whole place was lovely and informal and you couldn't help but fall in love with the beautiful building and furnishings.......a true gem in a lovely part of the cou... what people say » nty.....so if you are looking for something classy....look no further....and try the honeymoon suite.....lovely!!     Staff were unbelievably friendly and accomodating. Went way beyond job descriptions to help us, including opening breakfast early so that we could leave on time. They also printed out maps, descriptions, etc. - Spacious bedroom, well equipped with a terrific river view. Helpful and friendly staff. Excellent food and an interesting menu.
