The food i found was very good and large enough portions. The bar prices where excellent aswell. all reviews »
The quality of the room and the standard of the facilities. Ambience, service and food excellent. Our bedroom/bathroom was obviously recently refurbished and was very nice to stay in, however hanging space was minimal and where were the hanging hooks in the bathroom? Overall a very enjoyable stay, we were there 10 years ago and hope to go again in 10years time!. One of the best rump steaks I have ever eaten. Top Class for a very reasonable price. Room very clean and recently refurbished.Friendly service. The room (20) was great - very comfortable and warm with lovely views. The bar was also good. The staff were very accommodating; squeezed us into the resteraunt at very short notice on Valentines day - the food was excellent and very reasonably priced. Dogs are welcome, which was the reason we picked this hotel. The relaxed atmosphere and the helpfulness of staff, especially at reception and in bar/restaurant. The excellent quality of breakfast. My second time there. A huge room at the front this time. A bit shabby but very comfortable. The staff were very friendly, it had a lovely atmosphere and was full of character. good bed and generous towels. The room was a good size with a relatively large bathroom. The staff were friendly. Quiet, especially given the proximity of the bar!. It was an old and interesting building in a good location with friendly staff and exellent food.Polite, unobtrusive staff. Stressless check-in and check-out. Food. Staff were friendly and hotel had good old world charm. Good choice ofmeals and good value. Good bar, food and breafast. the food was excellent. central location. location. Got what was expected - a quirky room in an old building, but nice touches with complimentary drinks tray and bathroom towels/soaps. Good cooked breakfast.very friendly. Very welcoming atmosphere and helpful staff. Breakfast was very good. The meal although expensive wasvery nice. The cuisine was excellent. Good bar, didn't personally use the restaurant, but it was full on New Year's Eve. Breakfast OK. Food was good. Could have had better on-site information as to where the car park was. It was quite difficult to find. Directions to the hotel could be included. Sat nav is useless as Ross on Wye has a one way sytem.car parking was very tight. Breakfast plates were hot but the bacon sausage etc was cold andunder cooked. No problem for me but the very steep stairs would have been hard for someone less able. Recent changes in Ross one-way system made it hard to get to. Lots of narrow stairs making access to bedrooms difficult - think hotel description should make this clear.Unfinished fire precautions. Wires sticking out of ceilings. The lack of a shower in the bathroom was a minor shortcoming. This is a very old building, so expect creaks and quirks - we thought it was fab.(There were quite a lot of stairs, fine for us, but you might struggle if you have any mobilty difficulties.). The stairs were a bit of a challenge for anyone over 60, but added to the old-world charm. The showers were terrible, we were in a bit of a rush therefore we couldn't really have a bath. The showers were either boilling or off!!. over heated food in restaurant. Room rates were too high. One of our two rooms had an uncomfortable bed and the bathroom needed refurbishment. Everything was spick-and-span, though.Room and bathroom carpet old (smelly). Floorboards very noisy. Steep stairs would be a problem for older folk. the radiator in the bedroom was noisy and was not working. No lounge for residents. difficult to navigate through one way system at Ross. no lounge. Being on second floor , concern about unfinished fire alarm (hanging wires) and great big gaps around my bedroom door.bathroom should have been better. Very Disappointed with the meal in the Hotel in the evening, breakfast was very poor. I booked Hotel because the reviews said the food was excellent, it was,nt. Very difficult to park, poor instructions on how to get there. The bed was as hard a purgatory andshould be destroyed. The room shoulkd be totally renovated.difficult to get to with the one way system if you are unfamiliar with Ross-on-Wye and using a Satnav. The room was horrible, although the sheets were clean, the room was veryoutdated and shabby and the lighting was dingy and drab.
