This is a really professional hotel which excels in thoughtful touches. Although I had a single room, the bed was generous and comfortable. As it was very hot, a fan suddenly appeared in the room after the bed was turned down. There was a cafetiere and real coffee in the room. The building itself is magnificent and very well placed to walk to the centre of town. Great location near city centre but in quiet neighbourhood and with exclusive offstreet parking. Lovely garden running down to river. Gourmet restaurant, lovely evening meal, good cooked breakfasts. Friendly and helpful staff. Bed was comfortable.
all reviews » A very good 'total' experience indeed that, in our experience and opinion, would shame many a 4 star+ establishment. A very well managed hotel - totally focused on the clientelle and no doubt they have many 'returning' guests. The staff were outstanding, both in friendliness and efficiency - the manager runs an excellent team. Food was very good, the kitchen waited for us after a delayed arrival. Easy walk into Hereford via the cathedral grounds. We were in the town house and the room was very comfortable. It was great to have some complimentary water, fruit and importantly milk in the fridge. The room was clean and had everything that we needed. Great location, easy walking distance to city centre and cathedral. Stylish rooms - we were upgraded to a garden suite which was wonderful. Lovely garden for breakfast in good weather. Good food. I loved the fact it was close to everything we wanted to visit. Enjoyed sitting in the garden to have our meals. Was very impressed with the front of desk staff at the hotel they were very helpful. We stayed with our parents in two rooms. Ours was by far the nicer!! Lovely and large, plenty of wardrobe space, comfy beds, big windows over looking the garden and moat. Wonderful Deco, very pretty location and garden space. Stunning rooms and excellent staff. Food delicious and very elegantly served. We will definitively go back. It is a lovely hotel the room was nice and clean and comfortable the staff are friendly the food was really nice. Also the parking was very handy. The whole place was extremely comfortable. Our room, in the next door townhouse was very small. We did not spend much time in the room so could cope, but other people may want to check that they get a room that suits them. We had a fan but no aircon, during the hottest spell of the year. We coped but others may want to check that they have enough. In three days, the breakfast options, whilst varied, did not change at all. No issues to report. Couldn't fault it. The only things that I would say was that the shower didn't work as it would spray only to the left or right and hence the floor got flooded. The other thing was that I felt that the room was a little small to be called a suite!. Crys out for a cocktail bar! Good food but very taking order in bar/ bistro. Would liked to have had airconditioning in the rooms as the weather was very hot when we were staying. The only negative was poor lighting in ours and our parents bathrooms and over dressing table so hard to do make up!. N/A. I didn't have any problems with this hotel at all. Bed was a wee bit short but then I'm 6'7"!. The menu in empty and rather uninviting bar area. Didn't want dinner,as such,but menu in bar not appealing. Threadbare dressing gowns, no plugs near suitable mirrors (for hair drying), cooking perhaps not quite up to expectations/price. nothing. nothing. Nothing. At the very top of budget so expectations were very high. It was a very hot night unusually and there was no air con. Limited breakfast options for veggies, very cramped room, designer clutter everywhere so nowhere to put anything down in the room. Nowt. Parking limited and "tight". nothing. Lack of air conditioning. Car parking - this was poor. Slow hot water delivery for bath and poor drainage. Car Park small and not able to access on arrival but managed to park at entrance. dirty carpet in room. strange decor. small room. Room quite small (room 5), with huge wardrobe taking up space. Rather hot. We were accommodated in an outbuilding without having been advised of this in advance (which we would have declined).The room was two storeys up and there was no lift.
