We were visiting uni for my daughter and wanted to be out of the town. Lovely setting, peaceful area. Warm welcome from the owners, tea, homemade cake and a chat! Rm was amazing, spotless, very comfy, elegant. Included toiletries, fruit,homemade biscuits, dressing gowns and a glass of sherry in the room! Very tasty breakfast next day. Very hospitable, reccomended local places to eat and even gave us a lift there. The treble tile gastro pub served excellent food at good prices, great service and.

Seeing a huge painting of Buddha on the back wall of the bedroom was one of those 'wow' moments that some of us pay the money for. Comfy bed. Freebies including free glass of sherry. Nice cooked breakfast. Fantastic. Having stayed in a few of them, guest houses don't get better than this, they really don't. We found Angela and Alan the best hosts, nothing was to much trouble for all the guests. The breakfasts were the best with a wonderful range of cooked breakfasts. It was a great base for visiting the superb Beth Chatto garden and other nearby gardens. Ted and Chris, Lincolnshire. In a word, this place was "brilliant". Owners were thoughtful & generous. They could not do enough to assist us in any minor matters, and all other needs had already been anticipated. The food was wonderful, and the house & garden were a delight. This was a great stay, beautiful surroundings, very welcoming with gourmet breakfast with lots of choices. Helpful hosts with recommendations to eateries, entertainment and travel tips. The one we were in had a bathroom next door to it reserved for our use but not en suite. And being a guest house there was no evening meal on site, though several restaurants, pubs etc within a mile or so. Not much not to like really. Nothing, except that the Castle was closed while we were there!. Nothing. Pretty much perfect. Having to leave. There was nothing to dislike. All good. Nothing , could not fault it. Nothing. nothing. Nothing at all. Nothing. Only one major issue for us and that the room was too too hot ! And abut out of town ( ok for the golf club ). shower not very powerful.
