I travelled to Townsville with my 96 year old mother who is not very mobile. It was a big advantage to get room service. The meals were not expensive and were very good. I've stayed in other accommodation where the rooms were close to the lifts. The noise from the lifts interrupted my sleep. Again, my mother and I were close to the lifts at Ibis Townsville, however, the lifts here were extremely quiet, in fact, noiseless. Access by motor vehicle is easy and Hotel carpark a huge asset. Some hotels have walls like paper and you can hear lots of noise, but I didn't hear anything from the neighboring rooms, just occasionally doors closing in the hallway. This is being very very nit picky, but the TV remote only works at a certain angle/ position relative to the TV, makes it hard and awkward to change channel. That I booked online and when arrived they did not have my booking and had to make up a room suitable to my requirements. 1. Lack of room services, the guy in the front desk asked me to come down to pick up the food I ordered! 2. The internet connection was bad, it just comes and goes. Everything. No car parks, staff have no personality, cost was too expensive for what you receive and we have stayed in hostels with better beds.
