This luxury hotel features an outdoor heated pool and sundeck that overlooks Sydney Harbour and Circular Quay. The award-winning restaurant and bar offers views of the Royal Botanic Gardens.
Situated in Sydney CBD (Central Business District), Sir Stamford Circular Quay is a short 5-minute stroll from the world-famous Sydney Opera House.
Each room features an executive work desk with broadband internet access, plus a marble bathroom with double vanity, bathrobe and slippers. Some rooms have an intimate Juliet balcony with stunning views.
Sir Stamford at Circular Quay houses one of Australia's largest private collections of fine art, and features 18th-century antiques, open fireplaces and crystal chandeliers.
The Dining Room offers Modern Australian cuisine and exceptional service in a relaxed and intimate atmosphere. Ideal for High Tea, fine wines or cocktails, The Bar offers a stylish gourmet bar menu.
be warned if you are expecting the hotel grandeur and modern and packed with guests, this hotel is not what you are looking for. However, the intimate and cozy feeling, plus the fine elegance of the deco all offer a nice and comfortable stay. Great location to circular quay ferry termini and 15-20 min walk to the city central shopping precinct. You can also take the free tour bus just around the corner. As for the dinning selections, plenty touristy and less-touristy ones are around. Extra note. all reviews
We stayed in the Deluxe King Room for 2 nights. The room was very spacious, clean and the second we stepped into the room we felt we were staying in luxury. The full breakfast we had booked with the room was amazing. So much range. Above all the staff were courteous and always made you feel welcome and as if we were regular customers to the hotel. Location of hotel was great - only 500m from Circular Quay and about 5min walk to Opera House. My fiance and I will definitely be coming back to the .

Brilliant location for catching a performance at the Opera House. Short, pleasant walk back to hotel after show. Huge room (King Twin, room 414), very tastefully decorated, clean, comfortable. Huge marble bathroom, with robes, plenty of soft towels and complimentary toiletries. Nice view of park out of Juliette balcony. Hot breakfast perfect- not sitting out on a Bain-Marie but individually cooked to order. Staff very courteous and helpful. So easy to self-park in the hotel's own carpark. Highl.
From the moment we walked in until the moment we walked out it was the best customer service we have experience anywhere in the world. Small and intimate, nothing was a problem, the room was sensation, the bathroom big enough to dance in and the breakfast absolutely define. Best place to stay in Sydney if you are after excellent service, fantastic location and great value for money.
The proximity to everything that we needed made it within walking distance with two small children which was perfect. We would stay there again!
The spacious room was ideal and we loved the character of the whole building was beautiful.
Staff were really helpful and very friendly and our first impressions of them were very pleasing.
This was our second stay at Sir Stamford - everything we wanted to see
or do was within walking distance (Sydney Opera House, museums, shops,
the Circular Quay railway station). Not the cheapest hotel but the
convenience and room sizes are hard to beat. Loved the comfort, space
and 'old world' (slightly worn) feel of the place.
The bed and pillows were excellent. I'd like to have the make of the mattress and find out where you buy Down pillows from? The two large vanity basins outside the bathroom is brilliant idea. Nice and bright too. Very happy with the position of the Hotel and will use again next time we have a brief stay in the city.
Location was excellent - just across the road from the Botanical Gardens and within a few mins walk of Sydney Opera House and Harbour Bridge.
Staff were very warm and welcoming and went out of their way to assist us.
Our room was huge and the bed was extremely comfortable. We would definitely recommend this hotel!.
My partner & I stayed at Sir Stamford with family who flew in from
Paris to attend a family wedding. We were all very impressed with the
size of the room, bathroom and facilities as well as the location so
close to the Quay was wonderful as we took a ferry to Balmoral. Our
family from Paris were truly impressed!.
Amazing location! Only a short walk from trains and ferries at Circular Quay, and the Opera House and harbour views. Recommended definitely for the location alone! Room was lovely, clean and comfortable too. Staff were very friendly and helpful - bottle of wine to start our honeymoon was a lovely gesture, thank you!.
The atmosphere of the hotel is warm, friendly, quiet and well maintained. The dining experience was great both food and service. Concierge help for any questions was excellent. Our room was very comfortable good bed. Access to the city is convenient and easy and close to the Opera House for concerts and shows.
It was a lovely hotel, close to the Rocks and the waterfront so there was plenty to see and do. We had a balcony view of the harbour bridge and overseas passenger terminal (where we had just disembarked.) The room was spacious, clean and very well presented. The staff were friendly and very helpful.
Staff very friendly and helpful, especially Kylie at reservation.
I love your rooms, we always stay in a suite and it's lovely. The old time ambiance makes me feel more at home as do your wonderful staff.
I would always like to stay here because of the great location and again, your lovely staff.
Close to all the facilities in Circular Quay, couldn't have picked a more convenient place.
Very impressed with the service of a particular night concierge: he organized the return of a lost item from a water taxi...when we got back from dinner, it was already in our room, great service!.
The friendliness and courtesy shown by staff. Most very professional in their work and attitude to customers. The only exception was dining room staff. Travelling with a good friend so having a double twin room was comfortable. Location to City and Circular Quay is very convenient.
The staff were great and friendly
the suite was wonderful and clean.
We left our passports and money in the safe at check Called the hotel from the airport and the concierge personally drove our passports to the airport and delivered them to us. This will always be remembered.
Perfect location. Fantastic hotel with great decor & excellent staff that were really helpful. Loved the room we had with the most comfy bed & the best pillows. Our room had a balcony with harbour views - everything was perfect. Thank you we will definately be back.
What a wonderful hotel, absolutely loved the decor and staff went out of their way to help. Close to the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House and many eateries and other attractions. Would definitely recommend this hotel and would stay there anytime we are in Sydney.
Very comfortable room, with a beautiful view.
Location near CQ station (with direct railway link to airport) and the opera house was perfectly suited for our one night visit. Wish we could have stayed longer and enjoyed more of the Stamford experience - e.g. high tea.
Pretty much only a 2 min walk from the opera house and right across the road from the botanical gardens.
Beautifully decorated rooms with views of the park (assuming you are high enough). A hotel perfect for those that want to see something of the past.
Loved the service ... staff were eager to assist, it was clean, it was
how a hotel should feel comfortable, welcoming and yet efficient. The
little details taken care of. The apples a great touch. I could go on
and on .... will definitely be back ...
Large, airy room, with small balcony and good view across to Sydney harbour.
Well appointed bathroom with large bath and shower and good toiletries.
Staff are outstanding and the Bar downstairs serves the best hamburger I've ever eaten.
Everything...the feeling of grandeur of times gone by...evocative of the Windsor in Melbourne. Loved the location and the friendliness and willingness of staff to do everything to make the clientele happy...which I am! Thank you! :).
Location is fantastic for Circular quay and only a short stroll to the Rocks plus across the road from the botanical gardens.
Stayed three nights and will stay at this hotel again.
Staff great, nothing is too much trouble.
We loved our view and the size of our room. Everything worked out perfect. We arrived at 10:30 and since our room wasn't ready, they held our bags and we hit the Sydney running. The train, harbor and sights were so close.
Fantastic location, close to all the public transport & many places within walking distance to do and see.Bed was so comfortable that we slept better than in our beds at home.Staff very welcoming and friendly.
The hotel was nice and quiet and the breakfast was excellent - a huge choice of quality items. The hotel is also situated in a good location which was handy to Circular Quay and all major public transport.
Location was great. Felt safe in the area around the hotel!
Service was excellent,we felt very special during our little city stay ..
Sir Stamford was just Beautiful, regal,5Star..We thank you !.
Loved the bathroom
Loved the breakfast
Loved the friendly staff
Loved the whole atmosphere. I took my mum to Sydney and wanted to spoil her for one night and Stamford exceeded my expectation.
position, ambience of lounge area, dining room, staff, rooms, pool, lifts are quick and there is little waiting time, rooms are quiet (perhaps the Easter weekend was quiet), parking is good,.
I really could not fault this hotel. Room was superb. The location is perfect. Staff went out of their way to be helpful. Room service standard was excellent. Would definitely stay again.
Proximity to city, The Rocks, Botanical Gardens and Opera House.
Service and atmosphere.
Nice views.
Included breakfast - very nice.
Parking.
Availability of food all night if needed.
Lovely hotel in an excellent location close to Circular Quay. The room was most comfortable and well furnished and equipped while the hotel staff were uniformly helpful and friendly.
Professional customer service, comfortable and quiet room with classy fitout. Loved the fire place and old fashion furnishing in the lounge areas. Breakfast was fulfilling as well.
Location was great for walking to the Sydney Opera house, walk to Circular Quay, and a short cab ride to RCI Cruise ship dock.
Friendly staff and helpful concierge.
Big clean room.
My Partner and I loved our experience and made a deal that we will be staying once a year for a weekend at minimum.
Staff, facilities and just the hotel in general was perfect.
Fantastic location - overlooking the Botanical Gardens and 5 mins walk from the Opera House. Lovely old fashioned charm - like staying in a gentlemen's club! Spotlessly clean .
Have stayed at Sir Stamford on
several occasions and is one of
the better Hotels in Sydney , with
close proximity to Circular Quay,
excellent rooms , a good bar and
quiet .
Everything. Especially the spacious and grand rooms. And clean large bathrooms. And the amazing smell of the Bush as you walk into the lobby. Oh and the location - perfect.
Ideally situated for circular key, the opera house and botanical gardens. You can walk to nearly anywhere in the harbour district in a few minutes. Good restaurant and bar.
Front desk staff were incredibly helpful and very happy. Upgrade without asking for one is always a pleasant surprise. The rooms were just beautiful and view stunning.
A great location and the room was bigger and more luxurious than we expected for the special price. We dropped off our luggage early and it was taken to our rooms.
We liked it for not being modern. Its atmosphere, charm and away from
the crowd appeal while still only a few yards away from most of the
sites that make Sydney.
Easy walking distance to most places of interest including Circular Quay, Opera House, Botanical Gardens, the Rocks, Sydney Harbour Bridge, Sydney Harbour etc.
Location and view from balcony
Friendliness of ALL staff
Fruit
Size of rooms
Made to feel welcome each time you stepped inside the hotel
Umbrella available.
By far the most exquisite hotel I've ever stayed, and as a very frequent traveller i've stayed in a lot. Comfort, service and luxury was second to none..
Loved the location, so close to the harbour area. Fantastic service - the concierge was very helpful. We got upgraded to a suite which was also a bonus.
Fantastic location and very comfortable rooms. The full breakfast was excellent with hot meal options freshly made to order. We would stay here again!.
Excellent hotel.we were very appreciative of the upgrade we
received. Many of the staff were very friendly and extremely
helpful.Concerge very good.
Having to leave!!.
That we didn't stay another night!.
The room service breakfast was average - you can do much better in
George Street (a short walk). Tv signal was quite horrible in our room;
we considered a pay-on-demand movie but the tv channels looked so poor
that we thought better of it.
Nothing.
Nothing.
Nothing at all, we loved our stay there!.
no negative experience.
The late check-in time. We had docked early morning and it was 3pm before we could get a room - given that check-out is 11am we thought that they could have accommodated us earlier (we were there at 10am!).
The rooms are lovely, but not as clean as I would like i.e. bathrooms and carpets were not cleaned effectively daily.
Not a great variety of food for room service and meals were sent back as they weren't hot.
Breakfast room too small for all the guests during morning rush hour - we had to wait twice before we could be seated...
We had a room with an adjoining door to the other room and on one night they put a family with 2 kids next to us... very noisy indeed! The door doesn't provide any sound protection!.
Gluten free high tea was substandard.
The cost of food was very expensive.
Nothing to dislike.
Nothing really. The airconditioner was a bit slow at cooling the room down. Otherwise perfect.
Food was good ... but the Dim Sim entree was a little average ...
What's not to like?.
TV needed some fine tuning to get a better reception.
That our stay was
Not long enough :-(.
The fact I didn't take my gym or swimming gear as your website didn't mention this. Oh well I just couldn't work out oh dear.........
I purchased the room from a travel site, and while I understand that there were no additions, I thought the hotel could have offered an insentive to dine in or visit the bar.
Nothing.
Key deactivating apparently possible if near a mobile phone.
The 1.5 per cent surcharge on credit card payments. Management should include it in the room rate or- given the prices at the Sir Stamford -
drop it all together. An unnecessary aggravation in what was otherwise an most enjoyable stay.
N/A.
Nothing.
Nothing - it was all perfect.
Nothing not to like.
Loved so much about the Sir Stamford but if I had to pick one thing then it would probably be that we were a little disappointed in the breakfast. Didn't feel very five star.
When we checked in the lift broke down and we had to walk up to the 8th floor.
The shower had very little water pressure.
High price of breakfast but evening meals wonderful.
Nothing.
Nothing.
The hotel needs to join the 21st century and get free wifi throughout the hotel for guests. With the price of the stay this should not be extra.
