My husband and had only booked a standard room. We had been so looking forward to the weekend away for quite some time as my husband never stops working. Our weekend did not start so smoothly (I picked my husband up from the airport and 5 hours later after having our car towed back home we arrived in a taxi at the hotel). The most comfortable bed I've ever slept on. The smell of French Lavender as soon as you walk into the lobby. The staff was always extremely polite, not a fault with the staff. Personal service. Attentive. Love the French accent with most. Staff were very nice and although there was a error in my booking, the staff were very quick to rectify the mistake and have me relocated to my correct room within minutes. And the beds were AMAZING !!! Softer than a cloud !!. Loved how professional staff were. Staff were very helpful even with little things. Room was perfectly cleaned and wonderful to stay in. Breakfast had a large selection and catered for a large range of people needs. The staff were very obliging, both before and after our stay staff regarding our luggage and freshening up.Facilities excellent, an indoor pool would be lovely. Could not fault the service or accomodation. We were Cruising so it was a great location and a easy walk with our baggage down the hill to the pier. Obviously for men - no hanging space for dresses; would have liked to have a drink in the bar on level 5 but am obviously not up to class! Mentioned it used to be a favorite years ago and was just told not available. Only on second/third day told could have paid to use it,. Having to convince Reception on check-in that my booking included Breakfast. This was sorted but took time. Also having to enforce the fact that my used bathrobe had obviously been removed from my room. Fairly long wait at check-in. Was offered complementary newspaper but it didn't arrive. Restaurant food was great but a bit pricey. The shower (in the bath) was a little small. The valet who delivered our car had an offensive body odour which stayed in the car for sometime. Room decor was tired looking. A fresh coat of paint and carpet cleaning would go along way. There was a musty odour upon entering the room. Parking too expensive and for that price should provide valet service. There was not anything we didn't like. Staff in the bar were not as friendly and the service was not quick in coming but the atmosphere was still great,. The service in the Soirée Lounge was horribly slow and our waiter was clueless. He needs training!. City view was of city buildings only, room on lower level. Very noisy plumbing at 5.30 in morning. No free wifi for emails in rooms. Nothing really. Could have done with a bit more space (or maybe just inviting space) on reception level. Silly shower without a proper base that floods the bathroom (I hate those)!!. Food too expensive. We couldn't afford to eat within the hotel. Only downside though. Floors in handicapped bathroom were particularly dangerous when wet. a bigger bath would have been nice. I was disappointed to be placed in a room catering for disabilities, especially as I wasn't asked. It is excellent that you have these rooms, however the shower was awkward and water went all over the floor as there was no barrier. Also, I didn't really have anywhere to put my stuff in the bathroom as there were no shelves so I just had to use the desk. They did not have on record that I had breakfast included. So I had to present documentation 2/3 days. The air conditioning was noisy whenever it was on. No slippers or plastic laundry bags to take home dirty clothes. Breakfast was expensive. Impresssion of staff service level was smeared by a black sheep. It was unpleasant experience dealing with one of the front office receptionist. There should be better resolutions when it comes to dealing with conflicts on payment, instead of locking guests out of their rooms. The smell of the musty carpet in the passage ways. It smelled dampish and as if it needed a good airing. The delay in getting away early on departure. Wish they had a dedicated airport shuttle. Sydney hotels are expensive. At that price level, Internet access should be free.
