  Had a great stay at Burswood Guest House, the attention to detail was first class, down to dressing gowns, slippers, chocolates and real napkins (not the usual paper serviettes) The breakfast was excellent a great selection of fruit and a lovelly cooked breakfast. There was a bus stop nearby which took the strain of parking in the city centre away... vad folk säger » and a great pub nearby. It was a pleasure to meet the owners, George and Maureen, they ensured we had a comfortable stay. - What a fantastic place to stay! This was a two night treat weekend at the races for my father in law and did he get a treat, as we did also! It was like staying in a 5 star hotel. The breakfast was better than most top business hotels I have stayed in across Europe. The attention to detail in the bedrooms and the dining room was fantastic. George the owner is a lovely guy and the service is second to none.

  The room was immaculately clean and I can't honestly suggest how it could be improved. The room was spacious and the beds very comfortable. I will definitaly recommend it to friends and will definitely stay there again.   The Blakeny is a family run b@b,excelent value, spotlessly clean with a wondeful home cooked breakfast far more than one could possibly eat but irresistable. Large room comfortable bed and cosy doona small but adequate bathroom with very good shower. Delightful stay.It is a bit far from town but the bus is right outside the door and only takes 10 minutes. The same bus goes into - we chose tho stay here as we didn't want to be right in the middle of town. It' s a 25 minute walk to the Minster though there is a bus stop right outside if you want save your legs. The location was nice & quiet with hardly any traffic. The room was large, clean & comfy & there was plenty of nice food for breakfast. The hosts were friendly & helpful & were able to give us some really useful information. We will definitely stay there again when we return to york next year.

  I didn't arrive until 11.30 pm because of a delayed journey from London, however the person on duty was very helpful. I requested an iron and iroing board at 7.30 am the nextmorning which was brought immediately. The hotel is close to the city centre, around a 10- 15 minute scenic walk. There are restaurants and a supermarket very nearby. Walking distance to the train if minimal, easy to manage luggage. Staff were excellent. Highly recommend this hotel, it is very beautiful.

  Everything: the staff were very welcoming and so helpful: nothing was too much bother. The look of the hostel was more like that of a hotel than the stigma usually attached to hostels. The cooked breakfast was lovely, especially for the low price we paid for it. Also, the rooms were very well set out and in a very clean and tidy condition. This is a hotel without the extras (I.e doesnt have a hairdryer/towels & a tv on the wall), other than that it does exactly what it says on the tin!! Excellent staff, excellent food, excellent value for money all round!!) Would definitely stay here again!
