This feels very much like a hotel from the right decade. It's very modern, lots of design thoughts, rooms are small (container-sized, not a coincidence) but they feel a lot bigger than they are due to the very good design. Rooms have music, mood lightning, lightning, blinds controlled by a remote. This is great fun for us that like new technology. I hear newer citizenM use an ipad instead of a remote with touchscreen. Normal European outlets were available in the rooms. Movies are available for.
all reviews » The staff was very helpful and friendly, check-in and check-out procedures are innvoative, yet very easy, the hotel itself is a design-masterpiece, the same goes to the rooms. Even though the room was small and missed some features you'd expect from a hotel room (such as a closet, trash-bin, hangers), it still impressed with king-size bed, rain shower, colored lights, all-in-one remote control, quietness, city view, free movie-package, free wifi and mostly with the feeling that you are personal. The bed was very large and the television was well placed. We stayed on two Mondays over two weeks. The first room was on the 3rd floor and the second on the 7th. On the 6th & 7th floors they have updated to samsung tablet controlled rooms with lots of movies to choose from and internet. On the lower floors they have similar features on a less superior tablet with room controls and tv controls so we were much happier the second time. The mood lighting is fun to play about with and the room . We stayed for 2 nights and when my husband checked-in the staff were friendly and helpful. Its a self service check-in but if you need help the staff there. The room was lovely and clean. Very space age hotel...Hubby would not put down the I Pad control which controlled the blinds, TV, mood lighting and the television channels! Said he wanted one!!!! Breakfast was great worth the extra. Staff throughout the hotel we wonderful. Hotel relaxing space was great as you had an area to use your . Very modern sleek design, stylish boutique hotel. No fancy old history represented in old stinky and stained carpets, but clean modern lines and styles. Check-in and check-out done by the guests themselves with staff / "ambassadors" standing by offering help whenever necessary. Breakfast / canteen / bar available, plus iMac computers for guests' use, in addition free WiFi throughout the hotel, and free movies in the rooms. Very close (around 200 metres or so) to the central Buchanan Bus Station. Great location for the city centre. Although the hotel was full we heard nothing, very quiet. Breakfast at under £9 pp was very tasty. Funky decor throughout. Good bar and sitting area. The rooms are like a Pod, small but comfortable. The loo and shower are inside a glass cubicle, make you are intimate with person that you are sharing with ! Handset operates the air-con, TV, blinds and lighting. The bed was big and comfortable. Plenty places round about for eating. 2 - 3 mins walk from the sho. My husband and I live in Glasgow we attended a concert at the Royal Concert Hall and we decided too relax after with a meal and relax,we booked citizen m,through a .com site and we where more than impressed with our overnight stay,yes we would book again when we have an occasion for an overnight stay,the hotel was relaxing,their was also a calming atmosphere in the hotel itself and also the room was also relaxing,wish we could have stayed longer,the hotel staff where friendly & welcoming wi. the ideal place to stop off for a night or two to enjoy the city. great central location within easy reach of the bus station and local inner city stations and literally a stones throw from the theatres and buchanans shopping centre. fantastic designer furniture in all areas of the hotel make it a very comfortable stay with the rooms being small but perfectly formed. the food and drinks on offer are great, all you need for a short stay. our 7th floor city room view was fantastic. free movies an. The most amazing thing about this hotel is the staff members ,, they are young and fast and super super friendly,, I loved how friendly is scottish people ,, the lady from the reception changed our room to disabled room when she saw that we had large bags and a child,, the disabled room was specious, comfortable, and the staff responded to all our silly questions and queries ,, the location is suberb !! I liked the modern design of this hotel and the spacious lobby with no reception desk. The hotel staff are called 'ambassadors' and they could not be more helpful. The room was a little small, but it had excellent facilities and a really good shower that got hot immediately. Good evening food - well made soups and sushi a specialty. The location is also excellent - only 5 minutes from Sauciehall Street and 7 from the wonderful Glasgow Film Theatre. A quirky boutique of a place. Obtaining breakfast via the DIY system can be a little chaotic but that's a very minor point, and can be seen as adding to the hotel's uniqueness. Very clean and comfortable bedroom, the rain-shower is excellent. Especially impressed with being able to obtain a good selection of drinks and snacky food up to 2am and consume them whilst sitting in comfy armchairs in the many seating areas. A very good value experience. Shower, comfort of bed, staff in canteen & reception outstanding, very helpful & frienndly. Decor very different & imaginative. Wake-up with lighting very nice. (e.g., Paisley) is right in front of the Hotel (McGill's bus 38). Also the First/ScotRail buses. It is a terrific concept! The rooms are in no way "large", but who cares when everything is designed to make the best use of the space possible. The shower room design is brilliantly done, a huge bed that is extremely comfortable, electric blinds that make the room completely dark, a mood lighting system that is all controlled by a remote control, a television set up that has movies on demand. It all works so terribly well!. I liked the overall concept of the hotel and how affordable it was to have a boutique hotel experience. The design of the room was also amazing, we enjoyed being able to control all of the gadgets without having to leave the bed! Having the canteen open 24 hours as well was also a life saver and I've never found this in any other hotel I've stayed in. Go to this hotel, you'll never want to leave. There's an iPod/iPhone dock in every room, the bed was in front of a huge window and also super comfy! Rooms are tiny but there's everything you need in there. The staff were very efficient and friendly, the room was comfortable and clean, check in and check out was very efficient, the 3pm late check out was worth paying extra for, the key card system was good and provided an element of security i.e. you can't access the lift without your card, the free use of the macs in the lounge was a great help. Very welcoming staff, rooms are quirky but very comfortable. Only thing that spoilt our visit was a very loud, ill-mannered female who was shouting and screaming at 3am on the 6th floor on the Sunday morning, something that unfortunately seems to be a problem in most hotels these days. Still Citizen M is our hotel of choice from now on.... A truly different experience - small (some would say too small) but spotless room - but with facilities that far larger and more highly priced hotels lack e.g. 3 different international power sockets and a relatively large (well hidden) safe. A new concept - but we will have others following this lead on what a City Centre Hotel should be. The hotel is very modern, we had a large room which had views over looking the city, fantastic. We did wonder if it would be noisy as there were lots of under 30s as guests, we were not disturbed at all. Food is served 24/7 excellent. There is a lounge area, modern seating which was really comfortable and lots of interesting books to read. I love the funky, alternative, modern approach to decor and service. The quality of the common areas is really good and they are very lively. The rooms are great especially the shower room, soap, towels etc. I love the lighting and blinds which can provide just about any permutation you like to aid sleep and relaxation or indeed work. I loved the design of the room and the interior design of the hotel from the lobby till the restaurant. It was just beautiful. Especially, in my room, the bathroom was made of blurry glass and inside there was a lighting system that goes around the shower and also lights up the room with any colour you would like. It was just beautiful. We have stayed in CitizenM in London before and greatly enjoyed the experience. We are great fans of Arne Jacobsen/Verner Panton et al especially as delivered in your hotel. We have enjoyed the ambience and the edgy vibe along with more concrete facets such as the cocktails, breakfast, quirky dinner all supported by excellent staff. A few minutes walk to city centre, self check in was a quick process, modern decor, huge comfortable bed, rain shower, free movies, everything controlled via a remote control, free wifi! When I make my own choices, CitizenM is my first option in a city where the hotel is situated. The CitizenM Hotel in Glasgow is absolutely brilliant and great value for money. The rooms are really funky, love the various light settings using the hand held device along with the huge bed. The staff without exception were all really friendly and could not do enough for us. Thoroughly recommended!!!. Lovely modern design with a sense of humour. Friendly , helpful staff and large comfy beds. I liked the bedrooms with the frosted glass shower/toilet cubicles - adjustable coloured lighting was great - but I do think you would have to know someone very well to be comfortable sharing one of these rooms. Christopher met us on arrival with a generous smile and helpful directions about parking He continued to go out of his way to assist- even helping with our washing when we were stuck. Nothing was too much trouble. The best service we have had in 4weeks travelling in the uk. The Decor was funky and fun. The Staff were excellent. One girl (short dark hair) was lovely and even brought me a drink free of charge when i had to wait 15 mins to check in (even though i was early). The bed with a lovely doll is layed beside a big window which I can view the city. The light in the room is very sexy and changed by myself. Some functions of the remote are buggy or slow. Note: This is not a hotel for the ones that want a very large suite or an old-fashioned hotel where you can avoid all the computers. But if you like technology and design, it's awesome and might be worth a visit just to experience the hotel. Was a little surprised that I had to pay a fee when paying with the credit card. The room's air conditioner did not cool the room down during the hot day, but that did not bother us, as we were outside most of the day and by night the it had reached just the right temperature. Also the all-in-one remote seemed to have mind of its own sometimes, but again - did not bother too much. The room is slightly small but everything is placed well. The bathroom pod you can see the outlines of people in the shower and on the toilet. The fact that we were only staying one night !. Leaving citizen m after one night could have stayed another night.. nothing! just be warned that this hotel is aimed at short stays so there is not much hanger space. No trash can, no mini fridge, no boiler, the rest is perfect!!. The aircon was cold and didnt switch off at all. Minor complaint but all I had. The breakfasts were a little pricey at £8.50 per head: bread a little stale (although they called it freshly-made) and cooked food a little congealed. The room lacked a place to put one's suitcase so as to make it open easily. Nothing. Lack of paper instructions for electronic control system. Could use luggage racks (maybe a hinged fold-down wall counter). Food prices in canteen. Request to fix slow-draining sink: not fixed. Clean towels had vinegar odor. Mood pad remote control would not work if removed from dock (Glasgow, room 731). Staff should routinely check for discharged batteries. Can't think of anything! Everything was brilliant!. Cant think of one thing I would change. I couldnt use my visa debit card to make the payment without a charge. Normally, use of a debit card wouldnt incur any charges. The price could be a bit more reasonable. I booked my room because they had a room that was £120, discounted to £81. That monkey on the bed! I thought it had been left by someone else. The noise of the air circulation system which caused me to lose sleep on both nights. Limited space in room for working at a desk. No manuals explaining hotel facilities or how to work the controls Public toilets were a little grim. Same standards of cleanliness not applied to them as in other areas. Toilets needed bleaching, tiles not clean and were stained. Nearly afraid to think what it was!. Couldn't work out how to start the shower, but a quick phone call to reception had a helpful staff member - or ambassador as they are called - on hand in minutes to demonstrate. Not excepting cash? What's that all about?? It stated was on my booking confirmation but don't think it was. In the end they took cash for one night. No tea coffee facilities in room. Room were on the small side but comfortable all the same. Nothing. Apart from noisy guests.... Not a lot. If you do not order breakfast when you book in (£8.95) you will be charged £10.95 at the counter. We used the soap that was provided a couple of times when we came back in the evening a new soap was provided that was unnecessary. I marked the comfort factor poor because in my room the bedside lamp was actually hanging off its base and didn't look safe, the quilt and pillows were cheap and lumpy and felt like they had gone well past their sell by date. They were uncomfortable on an otherwise perfectly acceptable bed. I really did not like the breakfast they serve. It is very less variety and the muffin I had was very very very dry. This is only issue which disappointed me. Whilst we understand the concept of economy of scale of the rooms and that the fittings, bed, shower room etc are of high quality the space is somewhat limited and after awhile slightly oppressive if staying in the room for any length of time. We would certainly use Citizen M again. Remote control was unresponsive sometimes, no tea/coffee facility in room, no dedicated area to place luggage - would be hard for couples with 2 x large luggage. Leaving!. I didn't like the fact I only booked for 1 night!. Cannot fault the CitizenM hotel, sadly the same cannot be said for Glasgow bus drivers. We travelled on four buses during our stay, two of the guys were perfectly OK, sadly the first we encountered was quite simply a danger behind the wheel, and the third thoroughly rude and obnoxious. These guys really need to get their act together if they are going to be transporting tourists/sports fans about during next years Commonwealth Games. No kettle but there were plenty of plug sockets so you could take your own. Would have liked a tea and coffee making facility. I thought the room would be a bit bigger but thats about it. Not a big deal really :-). The canteen / bar was fairly expensive. The rooms were small with very limited hanger / storage space (OK for 1 or 2 nights but no longer). No tea / coffee facilities in the room. Nothing. Nothing, it was great. Rooms are a tad small, by American standards anyway, and a couple might trip over each other a little. But it was quite good for a single. Lack of gym facility. Nothing.
