  Very friendly and accomodating staff, beautiful spacious room with private bath, wonderful breakfast. A fantastic view of miles of coastline in both directions from the covered deck. Absolutely wonderful and engaging hosts. Our children visited on the lanai and cracked fresh macadamia nuts. In the morning we drank rich Kona coffee, from the local landscape and delighted in sharing adventures and insiders knowledge over a perfect breakfast. Easy location to beaches, restaraunts, and sunny Kona weather. Kurt's family home surpasses any destination hotel or resort. We longed for it after moving on to other parts of the island. 5 stars.,

  EVERYTHING!! the cottage was extremely quaint, peaceful and private. it felt very homey and comfortable. landscape surrounding the cottages was quite magical. though it's near the main road, it wasn't noisy. the gardens were lush and green.   The Inn was surprisingly exciting, different, homely and very memorable. We felt we were really in Hawaii, not just another hotel or resort. Irene was very interesting, warm and friendly. She was very generous with her time, information about the area and booked a lava walk tour for us. Insight into her ukulele playing and other interests gave us appreciation of everyday life - A very friendly B&B in Pahoa, the innkeeper, Irene, was super friendly and helpful. I was feeling ill the day I arrived from a week- long cold, and Irene made me ginger tea immediately. I felt so much better the next day. It's a motherly touch that a large resort cannot replicated (which I stayed at before arriving at Lava Tree). It's something so small as that that can change your entire vacation and make it bettter.   We stayed for 3 nights in February and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Terrie (the owner) is very welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable of the local area she provided us with lots of information about what to see and do - and there is quite a lot, stuff you don't read about in the regular travel books. Everywhere was very clean and the accommodation is in a very peaceful lo - It´s perfect! Our suite was comfortable, clean and cozy. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great! (Fresh papaya with other fruits and yoghurt, and freshly baked bread or muffins). Location is absolutely wonderful, very tropical. Wifi worked great. Pahoa is a good base to start many excursions, even though it´s on the rainy side of the island.
