Everyone on staff was incredibly kind and courteous. Anything I needed from an umbrella to directions, they were happy to provide. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the city views (on the 10th floor) are amazing! The room itself is very clean, quiet and comfortable. The hotel is just a few blocks away from the subway and a short ride into the city. You can walk to a beautiful park or grab the subway into Manhattan. I would highly recommend this place to anyone and I would stay here a.
all reviews » The location was perfect, close to the subway, (local 7 train straight to grand central and time square in about 10-15 minutes) neighbourhood is ok, despite the looks of it. We travelled with a baby and a toddler and didn't have any problems at all, didn't feel unsafe... Small, clean room with a view... They work with a private cab company with a fixed fee to the airport. The Hotel was great. Enough space in the room, well equipped (fridge, coffee machine, enough closets, ironing table and an iron) and very clean. We had a room with a view to the city and it looked really amazing. Close to Manhattan by public transport. Breakfast was also good (three types of cereals, donuts, beagles, omelets, bananas). As far as you dont need any car in NY, location is very good and safe, even if some of the close streets looks dirty (part of the location is being refurbished into accomodations spaces). It is 7 min from metro station (39 Ave) and it takes another 15 mins to Times square, so its perferct as for NY. Great location at budget price. Some rooms also have a great view of Manhattan itself. The subway is only 3 blocks away with 3 routes into NYC. Can't comment on breakfast as always ate out, but all in all a good budget hotel, with good sized comfortable rooms for a great price!!. Room was a bit small, you almost have no place to put your luggage where. If you want to eat breakfast at the hotel it doesn't look great, although we ate out. Few problems with cleanliness of room. Double glazing is pretty thin, and on the second half of our trip the wind picked up and was howling through the windows. Finally, security of baggage once checked out is an issue as its in the lobby (not secure) although there is someone at reception at all times. Solution is to take a hard case with combination lock giving you security in your room and on check out. Breakfast was like being in a youth hostel. If you weren't there early enough then you missed out on the limited range of bagels and donuts. Only 3 tables and so wasn't very accommodating for all the guests. Not a lot of bathroom counter space. Not enough space for hotel guests to have breakfast. No supermarkets in the neighbourhood. Towels are clean, but grey - not very pleasant to use. Too little room for breakfast. nothing bad for the price. The person from the breakfast wasn't really kind. Nor was there much room to sit while eating your breakfast. The breakfast , no tongs were being used for breakfast items. The eggs were terrible. No Parking , but you can find a spot on 37th st or round the block, just be careful and check your car daily. Breakfast was included but there is very little space for the amount of people. However, if like us your just looking for a quick bagel before heading out into the city it is ideal. Also, the windows are very thin and old which lets in A LOT of street noise. Breakfast room was too small.Every morning crowded. The towels were mostly greyish and old looking but smells clean enough for use. I had one new white one towel stacked amongst the old greyish looking ones. I need to put in coins for morning coffee machine, during breakfast and seats are limited and cramped. Staff not very friendly, they give off an attitude of "get you in get you out" with not much space for questions or giving info about local amenities etc. Also, the lift is very very slow especially in the morning when the cleaning staff are hogging it going from floor to floor. No personality, ridicolous breakfast, with 3 tables for probably 50 rooms. Hotel had a water leak and could not accomodate guests. Booking had already been made for us at country inn suites 2 blocks away for the same rate (but nicer room) problem which couldnt be helped however we walked from the subway past this hotel with all our luggage. If we had been informed we could have saved 40 mins or so walking/checking in. Not enough elevator. Breakfast, the breakfast room and its organisation was terrible. The rooms were not properly heated for mid-November. We did not like the fixed shower. The part of Queens where the hotel is located is quite strange, mechanics, industrial facilities etc around, not a residential area. I'm sorry because I don't like to complaint,but i have to. Room was stinky,bedsheets and bath towels been gray,smells like a used one.Carpet fully spotted(dirty).Breakfast is really simple,paper plates and plastic cutleries.Alltogether 4 tables and always busy.Hard to find a place to sit down. Front door in eating area did not have a vestibule and anyone going near the door would activate the door opening with a gush of cold air venting in making it miserable to enjoy the breakfast. No luggage storage and small space for a breakfast. The room was small for 4 people. The beds were too small for 2 adults to sleep on ( in length and in width). We were 4, so two were sleeping on the floor. The staff was helpful on providing additional blankets. The curtains did not prevent the sun light from coming through. The A/C was pretty noisy. At night the door lets a lot of light come through.There was smell whenever the A/C was on for more than 2H, the staff came and sprayed freshner, but that gave me heavy breathing trouble. Also the dining area is so small, every morning there waere people standing and eating their breakfast. Very limited quantity ofr food supplied. The staff aren't that helpful or friendly. The hotel lobby is a disaster without a dedicated breakfast area. Sometimes, we had to take breakfast (which is very poor) while standing. The staff is not friendly. Breakfast zone is too small. There is not enough space for everyone. The area around thr hotel is not super. They don't accept pre-paid credit cards for paying at the check out. They should specify it. Just one elevator for a ten stories hotel. There were only 6 tables available to have breakfast. Coffee machines in the rooms are a joke, undrinkable "coffee". Bathroom didn't look too clean. location of hotel whilst safe was not a pretty area.
