The Avalon is a lovely B&B on the quiet end of Duval, or at least as quiet as it ever gets in Key West. We went for a relaxing long weekend with relatives. There is no bar on the premises, but Pearls B&B is just around the corner with a fairly lively and eclectic clientele. The breakfast, served on the front porch area, was ok - no hot dishes, but a nice mix of fruit, cereal, yogurt, some sliced meat and cheese, etc. If you've there for a few day and want transportation, there's a bike .
all reviews » Yvonne went out of her way to help us with sunset booking; the staff is friendly and helpful. We liked the spacious bathroom/shower and the netted bed, plenty of closet and drawer space. The full breakfast served on the quaint front porch right on Duval St. made for a glorious start to the morning; great people watching spot. The cookies and lemonade in afternoon is a nice touch. Private parking within short walking distance. This place is exactly what you're looking for on an island like Key West. It's very cute and very personal. You feel at home the moment you step inside. It's clean, and the lady behind the counter (who is there at normal working hours) is very helpfull and friendly. Location is very good; close to a beach, shopping and tourist-attractions. The breakfast is ok, and coffee and lemonade are always available at no cost!. The Avalon was a little gem that we are so pleased we found. As soon as we arrived we realised the 2 nights we had booked we're not enough and asked Yvonne if we could extend the stay, the room we had booked was full so we were very kindly given the honeymoon suite for the last night, (which is lovely and would recommend booking if available). Will definately return (v soon we hope) -A credit to the owners !!. Avalon is a 2-minute walk from the southern coast of Key West. It is conveniently located on Duval (St?), where most of the shops and many of the restaurants are located. The staff was very helpful with locating a restaurant and giving us directions. Checking in and out were both very fast. After comparing a few hotels in the area, Avalon was the most affordable conditional on having so many amenities. The house was very well kept. Extremely clean and comfortable. Free parking and a free breakfast added to the value. Also, they provided guests with towels to take to the pool and beach, cookies and fruit and fresh lemonade was left after hours. Overall a very welcoming and friendly environment that was centrally located at the end of Duval where it is a little quieter. Very friendly welcome and service. Our room was lovely. Great breakfast. The location of the B&B is perfect,at the quiet end of Duval street, with a great restaurant and beach almost next door and within easy walking distance of the more busy part of town. We hope to visit Key West again in the future, and for us the Avalon would be the place to stay. Overall, I really liked the Avalon B&B. The staff was very warm and friendly and check in/out was super easy. The B&B is directly across the street from the Key West Butterfly House, which is one of the city's top attractions and the southernmost beach is about a 3 minute walk. You can also reach the southernmost buoy within 5 minutes. The staff was very friendly and recommended everything you have to know from the beaches up to the best Happy Hours. Just great also the room was really nice and a small but nice pool. The location is great just in the middle and next to everything and they provide even in this small area good parking lots. On Duval Street but on the quiet end of the street so it was a perfect getaway from all of the busyness of the spring breakers and other noise yet easily could walk to the shops, bars, etc. The Avalon had a nice porch to sit and have a drink on and watch the foot traffic. The staff was excellent, I had forgotten to pack part of my luggage when I departed and the staff called to inform me within the hour. They are shipping my forgotten items to me....something they certainly didn't have to do! This act simply capped a wonderful experience at Avalon B&B. We found the Avalon Key West to be a beautiful Bed n Breakfast , our room the King Cottage was luxurious, the staff were really helpful, the breakfast was splendid and the location is great at the quiet end of Duval Street but close enough to walk to the older end, overall a great choice. We liked the turn of the century ambiance. The breakfast was more than adequate. The beach was only a block away. The free parking was appreciated. The parking was a block away but that was OK. Fresh brewed coffee 24/7. Two king sized beds in the room. We were more than satisfied. Our room was small, but we had everything we needed and more. They greeted us with a smile and were full of information on things to do, places to eat, and sights to see. I mentioned that we were celebrating an anniversary, and they went above and beyond to make our room special. Loved the staff and the relaxed feel to the place. The location is ideal -- on the quieter South Beach side of the island but within walking distance of everything. A portion of the guests are from Europe which it probably resembles a European type of guest house which we like. You can't beat the location, across the street from the Key West Butterfly and Nature Conservatory and 2 blocks from the Southernmost Point, on the quieter end of Duval Street. The staff were helpful and friendly. We will definitely stay here again when we return to the Keys. Nice b&b placed very close to a public but small beach with light and romantic rooms. Only 200m away from the Most Southern Point and located in the quiet end of party-happy Duval Street... Staff was very helpfull in regards to attractions and your knowledge. Thanks... We were there with four other couples that we knew previously. Met many others had a great time. Our air worked the first night but then stopped, (still blew but was not cold air), the next day they had a new unit put in! Amazing staff!!! We can't wait to go back!!!!. Location was terrific, right on the main drag but far enough away from the action so that it was quiet. Also only two blocks from the beach. Could not have picked a better location in Key West. The Avalon is a little piece of history that is comfortable, updated, and very clean. The staff are friendly. The Avalon is centrally located so you can easily walk to everything. It is hard to say that there was anything to dislike about this charming B&B. The bed was too small for us (queensize). I'm not sure if they offer bigger size beds. nothing. The window and curtain in the bathroom are located so that water from the shower head easily bounces off the body and onto the curtain. I saw small traces of either dirt or mold. I don't think the curtain is necessary since the window is relatively high. Also, it can take a few minutes for the water to heat up, but that might be true of many hotels on the island. Their cancellation policy is 7 days which was a little frustrating because I had booked two nights but needed to cancel one night last minute due to an emergency but still had to pay. No negatives at all. Although the B&B is very close to some attractions; it is on the quiet side of Duval St. This isn't necessarily a bad thing but the walk from attractions like Mallory Sq and Sloppy Joe's can be a pretty long one so if you are in Key West to party then this may not be the place for you. We booked a small room but were surprised how small it actually was. But no at problem at all :). I wished the breakfast was a little more than just bagels/english muffins and fruit and yogurt. If you're a light breakfast eater, then no problem. But I like a real breakfast in the morning, especially for the price you pay. They do put out a sweet snack in the afternoon though, and that was nice. The breakfast was basic. There were no special hot dishes just bagels, toast, etc. We would have like quiche or something a bit more substantial. 1. The beaches. (In Key West, the beaches are are a joke... Especially after the beaches of North and South Carolina.) 2. The windows need light -suppressing draperies for us light sleepers. 3. The air conditioners are NOISY and difficult to control. Nothing. Air conditioner was very loud. I have a bad back and felt the beds were a bit too soft. The pool and sun area is quite small but space was sufficient, anyway. Need towels hooks in the bathroom. Leaving :-(. Nothing. I had to walk up the stairs to my room. I had just injured my back so that was difficult but if that is the only complaint I have I'd say it all went pretty well. There were no chairs in our room. I would prefer a desk also. Just what we were looking for in our accommodations. Very small pool however if that is important to you. Could do with a little more storage space for clothes but we got by as were were only here 2 nights, but wouldnt put me off going back. :0). Can't say anything about this because I loved everything :-). Parking was a block away, but we didn't need the car as everything for us was within easy walking distance. Additional transportation rentals were available across the street. Room on the smaller side with no sitting area No AC/ventilation in the bathroom (just window) Pool is very small. What is not to like?? They have every convenience there for you and if there is something you need, just ask!. It was a bit expensive, but I do believe that was a product of the location and the holiday weekend. The location was a little far down Duval St for us as our daughter stayed at he other end. However,the bikes we rented across the st. and it was so much fun!!!!. Breakfast could have been a bit better but as far as I understand Key West has a lot if regulations re food. There is a fridge in your room so if you want anything special you can bring it in or have a cooked breakfast out. nothing. there was nothing that we didn't like. it was a perfect place to stay. We'll be back. Breakfast was about what one would expect from the standard continental breakfast. Expect better from a bed and breakfast. You won't hear any complaints from us ,we loved it !!!!!!!. I think they had recently painted our rooms because when we turned on the fans my fiance and I were sneezing nonstop when at home we use the fan and ac. So something set off our sinuses. But an easy mistake. Won't ruin our return. Everything in Key West is overpriced. Had to be quiet after 10:00 pm. Not easy with group of 21 year old girls. A little pricey... $900+ for 4 nights... Ouch but reasonable for the market location i guess... Not much. Room lacked a chair so for sitting, it was the bed or the floor. The mattress was a little aged, probably due for replacement. Pool was a bit warm but so was the weather!.
