    Friendly owners who make you feel like you are welcome into their home and who greeted us like old friends, remembering us from a single short visit we had made last summer. All the staff are friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere in Fairfield House is relaxed and cosy, and the garden is full of birdsong. My partner and I wouldn't bother trying ... what people say » to find alternative accommodation in any future visits to the Lake District...why would we when Fairfield House has become such a significant part of - Beautiful period house and garden located in quiet country lane with glorious walks into the hills directly behind. Walk below into the quaint village of Bowness. We loved having the excellent breakfasts and heading straight out behind the house for hill walks with tremendous views over Windermere. Extremely comfortable, clean room and all necessary facilities. Staff were lovely and welcoming. Would happily stay again and definitely recommend.

    We stayed at the Hare & Hounds for three nights and had a wonderful time there. We booked the standard room which although small was very cosy, well equipped and had a great en-suite ( really good size with a very powerful shower).     The Elim Lodge Guesthouse was a one-night stay on a road trip around England, but it is definitely a place I would go back to. Everyone was very friendly and breakfast was excellent! The room was attractive and comfortable and parking was available! - this is a very friendly place to stay. We parked up on the friday and did not use the car again... what people say » until we left as it is very local and we used the local bus service and were able to walk to the centre. breakfast was good and set us up for the day.

    We loved Dave - he's hilarious although not always intentionally - very, very nice man, friendly, helpful & accommodating.     Absolutey loved it here! The welcome from the owners was friendly and they came to greet us as soon as we pulled up in the car. We were offered tea and coffee and then shown around the b&b. Dean the owner also advised us of the places to visit around here and offered to reserve a table for us at the nearest pub. The hospitality and customer service here is the best thing about it as the owners - Dean and Steph are warm and welcoming. They helped us in getting around the Lake District and even offered to give us lifts to some places. Breakfast is large and delicious. Rooms are clean. For us who were traveling only by bus there is a bus stop just next to the cottage. Keswick is just 20 min away by bus. Keswick is a lovely peaceful little town. I highly recommend a lake tour by the boat. From Keswick it is easily to visit all the lake by bus.

The property is within walking distance to an excellent pub in town. We were here for 2 nights and enjoyed it very much.     Ferndale Lodge had everything we needed for a good price. We stayed in their 'small double' room and it is definitely small! But it had a compact ensuite bath and wonderful views. We weren't missing anything. Breakfasts were tasty and generous - a good selection of yogurts, fruit, cereals and full English breakfast fare. The staff were friendly and attentive and the accommodation was all around very comfortable - Stayed here with my wife for 2 nights, 27th and 28th July. Very clean comfortable room and bed, excellent breakfast and very friendly staff. We would recommend this BnB to anyone visiting the Windermere Lake. Just a short stroll into the town of Ambleside and 1 mile to the Lake.
