  Based on one night stay we were greeted warmly by the owner/staff and felt very welcome immediately. (We had arrived quite late due to an RTC on the A66 and just missed the dinner service however the owner let us settle in with our luggage to large double/en-sute room and order our meal which we were very grateful for). Both the evening meal and full Cumbria breakfast were delicious in - lovely country hotel with cosy bar and nice rooms . food in restaurant was top notch. away from main busy roads in smaller village but only 10mins out off penrith and not far to the lakes or carlisle or on your way to scotland . i stop for workpurposes,but great for stop over . a lovely little hotel

  we payed a little more for a Lakeland room and it was well worth the mony, the only thing we would say is that the room was over the bar and it was a little noisey but that stopped as soon as the bar closed. - Everything!   yself and my husband and another couple stayed 1 night and chose this hotel due to the location - close to seascale but the location was beautiful the bar was a typical country inn type, the staff friendly, food was good & the Kamikazi real ale went down well. The room was small but clean and comfortable and good value for the price we paid. T... what people say » here was a large TeePee in the beautiful gardens in preparation for a wedding. We love Country Villages we would definitely stay again. - We wanted a real good value pub as a walking base for the weekend, we found one right in the middle of the lakes. From the moment we arrived the staff couldn't do enough for us - big thanks. The food was straightforward, good quality and great value. The beer was exceptional and again great value. We loved all the fires and so did our dogs. The rooms we ok, nothing special, but clean and comfortable. We will be returning again.

  I thought everything about the hotel was good. It was quiet and the room was spacious clean and had all the facilities required for a pleasant stay. Breakfast similarly provided all that was required to start a day. A good choice of cereal, cooked food or cold food if preferred with a range of drinks to suit all. The staff were very pleasant and helpful and always on hand to provide guidance and advice. - Really enjoyed stay as base for visiting family in Cumbria. We were able to bring our two dogs rather than leave at home for small price per night. This was fabulous for us and a surprise as not realised when booked. Also free car park a real bonus for location and so convienient. Great shower in bathroom and as good as you get anywhere. All in all enjoyed 3 night stay with location short distance to walk to castle and park for dogs.Would recommend for budget conscious comfortable accommodation

  I loved the look of the building , Colin the guy on reception was really friendly , told me the history of the house . Food was hot and very filling . The price t, the views from the window . I had B& - It was in an excellent location for our needs, we had a friends wedding to attend in maryport. The staff were all vey friendly and helpful.The tea making facilities in the room with biscuits was good, and the room was lovely and warm. overall, it was a lovely old country house, and we would definetly stay there again.

  I'm quite surprised that the hotel is only 2* as the facilities were excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. I accidentally booked a twin room instead of a double via this website, sent them an email concerning this error, and my room was changed the next day and I was notified via a phone call.
