The Clarence is a multi-award-winning, adults-only boutique hotel located just a short walk from Portsmouth's seafront esplanade. Wow! Our stay at The Clarence was absolutely wonderful! We were greeted by Vicky who was very welcoming. Our evening meal was amazing! Simon, the chef, was of Masterchef Standard! We loved every morsel! Our breakfast was served by Paula who was fabulous too and the food was excellent! We loved every moment of our stay! We will be back. I have stayed at many hotels and this one has got it spot on in terms of service from staff, all staff behaved as if it were their own business and they were welcoming you into their home, cleanliness - was spotless, comfort - didn't want to leave and food - dinner and breakfast superb. So much so I have re-booked.
all reviews » The hotel was welcoming from the start and the high standards remained for my stay. I travelled alone on business and this is the best hotel I have stayed at in a long time. I would definately recommend this new hotel (along with smoked haddock for breakfast!) and will be going back. Would have liked tea making facilities in the room.Only gripe is that there were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Not really a dislike at all, but perhaps the provision of tea making facilities would be a bonus.

The Clarence has Private off-road parking (4 spaces) but is also able to offer free on-street parking permits. In addition, a secure gated car park is available at the Clarence's sister hotel, just a few hundred yards away.
